Germ29 -> wish list for patch (7/5/2004 7:56:05 PM)

Would there be a way to had who sank what on the sunk ship screen. By squadron or ship. It would be nice to see which sub sank the most ships or which sqd sank the most. They already tell you where and what type of weapon. Do you think it would be too hard to implement. Maybe MR. Frag would know....would be cool[&o]

thanks

I would like an option to see the ships broken into Allied and Japanese. So you don't have to look through all your own sunk ships to view the enemy's casualty list.

They have to fix the PBEM save files, at the moment its just WitP001.pws and WitP002.pws
WitP001.pws should read combat reply, or at least have the turn or date on it.

Sorry, it will stay the way it is.

freeboy -> RE: wish list for patch (7/5/2004 10:50:02 PM)

better ability to at least attempt surface contact during movement..

Back on the list again [;)]

sven6345789 -> RE: wish list for patch (7/5/2004 10:58:22 PM)

2 fixes (both already been addressed)

a)fix the main turrets on the Prince of Wales
b)was the 2. Marine Division in San Diego in Dec. 41??

OOB Issue, Mr.Frag is maintaining a list in the OOB thread

Huskalator -> RE: wish list for patch (7/5/2004 11:22:38 PM)

Streamline turn resolution so its faster.

Thats my major complaint. Although I definitely appreciate the ammount of calculations the game is making, turns take a long time.

Sorry but the more we add, the longer it will take.

Fully agree that seeing ship kills in a similar vein to pilot kills would be good.

'Star Wars two was a good movie'....is that some kind of sick joke? Because quite frankly I'm offended

GBirkn -> RE: wish list for patch (7/6/2004 12:36:13 AM)

I'd like to have the ship selection filters that are available in the port view screen (CV, BB/BC, DD/DE etc.) available to use when creating a TF, or transferring ships to or from a TF.

on the list

Oh, and a "Form New TF" button on the screen that shows the list of ships in a port.

infinitejest -> RE: wish list for patch (7/6/2004 12:52:33 AM)

1) In the "List all task forces" it'd be nice to have the percentage of max sorties listed for air task forces, much like the percentage of total ammo is listed for all task forces.

added to list

2) Linked text in the operational report and possibly the sigint report, so I can see where things happened.

Sorry but would take too much time

3) Use of the page up and page down keys in the combat reports for scrolling.

Added to list

4) Arrow hotkeys, so I can press left or right arrows to switch, for example, bases while reviewing them.

Added to list

5) New arrivals listed on the operational report.

Point Luck -> RE: wish list for patch (7/6/2004 2:04:54 AM)

A way of looking at all orders given during a turn would be nice, like a combat report or something. So that you can review what has been done to date during that turn, maybe on the same screen as the operation report

sorry but would take too much time

Another thing would that make things easier, would be to add to the Intel screens what control zone a base is located in, Like Brisbane (SE)

added to list

A way of toggling the hex grid numbers on and off on the map.

Frag, I have a 2.0ghtz Athlon 64bit chip... Can't get TOO much faster without spending LOTS... Be that as it may, the turns STILL take about 2 mins to resolve before I actually see any missions/fighting taking place. Honestly it's my only "gripe" along with better compression on the save files to take em down to about 500K. Don't know that I'll see it, but that's a wish also...

But I gotta agree with the earlier poster... While excellent, turn resolution is a bit sluggish still...

Mr.Frag -> RE: wish list for patch (7/6/2004 2:16:39 AM)

Turn resolution will continue to get slower as more stuff gets added. Can't really be helped. Everything adds to the duration of a turn.

Suspected as much. The bugger does have a LOT of information to muddle through. I guess what I wouldn't mind seeing is something like a filter so all the command decisions would just be shown as "South seas fleet: Orders complete" or something for that part of the turn. Then when the action starts, let it run... Probably just nit-picking cause like you say, the more gets added into the game as it wears on, it'll get longer...

Ah well...[8D]

If possible, any chance of loosing the on screen message that adds a game 'pause' to processing things like 'Spitting Task Forces', etc, and just keep the pauase for important things to the player like battles and recon reports?

I like a longer pause so I can actually read the recon reports but at the moment I find that I am having to constantly skip these things that dont really matter to the player and Im not really interested in. If you dont skip these they add to a turn considerably.

general billy -> RE: wish list for patch (7/6/2004 3:17:57 AM)

just letting those people that dont know, u can adjust the message delay in the options manual, plus you can speed up the reports by pressing spacebar during the combat reply.

There are some files, if you look arounf the directories a bit, which actually keep up with a lot of things you wouldn't expect, though I bet they're accesible in the game proper somewhere. I found one for example that mentioned a specific armored division had moved and was going to attack a specific city. I've also seen one that looked like it recorded every blasted message that I saw onscreen that turn. They're all in the save directory. Check this out:

Yeah, those files are viewable in game as the combat report, the operations report, and the sigint report. All of them are useful, but I want additional messages (like arriving ships) listed somewhere ingame (like in the operational report) so I don't have to watch or replay the turn to get all the information I would have got if I had watched the turn.

True, but if you speed it up you also speed up your recon reports :) Id like these to be slower, but those AI messages to be just displayed down the bottom and not have a pause myself.

return Japanese port attack torpedoes, its pathetic I still cant "roll" torpedoes at PH please fix it back to normal.

Alexander Seil -> RE: wish list for patch (7/6/2004 4:58:19 AM)

Maybe they could add the universally overlooked Manchuria :p

brisd -> RE: wish list for patch (7/6/2004 8:58:42 AM)

Please fix the "automatic convoys" being on (there is no OFF switch) in the non-production/small scenarios, in the FIRST patch.

Bug not a wish

Grouchy -> RE: wish list for patch (7/6/2004 5:50:36 PM)

When using troop transport by air, the same aircraft are picking up the troops and bringing them back. And you just transported them to another base a turn earlier.

Hope to see some changes in the AI/order routine/settings after they are done with transporting a unit.

Bug not a wish

I like this idea. It would be nice if, in the same way fighter squadrons show number of "kills", each sub could show number of "sunk"...or at least number of ships "hit".

The Gnome -> RE: wish list for patch (7/6/2004 7:23:22 PM)

Automatic Convoys:
- Bases need to request supply sooner. Maybe raise the default levels a tad?
- Let me set supply/fuel target levels for a base. I'd like to set Pearl and Brisbane to 250,000/250,000 and let the auto-convoys do the work.

added to list

Is something like setting a supply head possible? For land masses with several bases connected to one another - like west coast US - we could specify one base as the supply head. Each base would then ship off any excess fuel/supply to the selected base.

Divisions or sub-units can attached to an army, the same for air-units.

Because, i lost the overview.

Wow, a pair of great ideas.

I'm also gonna throw my support behind two I had seen earlier: (1) PgUp/PgDown in the various lists in the game and (2) Give an overlay option for hex coordinates. Much easier to plan if you don't have to approximate or mouse-over the hexes to determine destinations.
