munited18 -> PBEM NEWBIE (7/7/2005 7:23:02 PM)

All:
I have never played a PBEM game, but am pretty expercienced in war games. So, I have a few questions and I thought this would be a good place to ask them:
1. How quickly are turns usually handled? One a day or more?
I ask because of things like the job, wife, baby on the way scenarios!
2. Are there special rules for PBEM? I understand that everything is quick combat, but am unaware of anything else..
3. Can tehre be up to 8 players in a PBEM? Thought would be awesome to have all the nations human...
4. I am sure there are lots of things you veterans can tell me so please do!
I look forward to hearing what everyone has to say and then to maybe play a PBEM or two!!

pablomagno -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/8/2005 11:49:01 AM)

Ok we can play a game if you want

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/8/2005 4:08:22 PM)

pablo, do you want to set it all up? I am at work and will be until about 630pm CST. I could jump on it when I got home if the turn was waiting for me. What are the procedures of a PBEM? If you could walk me through it would be great! I don't care what country or time period, I just want the knowledge!

mac85 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/9/2005 10:24:19 AM)

Do you need another player? I'm a total noob but would enjoy a pbem learning experience.

Guenter -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/9/2005 2:46:22 PM)

I am also new to this game and would like to play in a slow pace PBEM. If I may I'd like to join in.

Guenter -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 8:03:03 AM)

So, no one interested in this game? [&:]

Krec -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 8:16:56 AM)

i can join in if you need another

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 4:17:49 PM)

I am interested and can do my turn after 7pm Central Standard time for a slow paced PBEM. Anyone want to start it up?

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 5:43:41 PM)

I am interested if you still need players. I am from the bay area in CA. Have played strategy games off an on and I appreciate a fun and enjoyable game. Have never done PBEM before but would like to try. A slower paced game interests me as well...new born and eight year old.

mac85 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 6:16:59 PM)

That's six of us. I suggest we pick countries; I'll have last pick, and then get things moving![:D]

MarcelJV -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 7:34:35 PM)

I would like to play as well. I just got the game and am figuring it out.

What Scenario? Standard

Sides: I would like to play Russia if possible.

Game length: 5 years
Victory: Most Glory at the end?

Email is sleens@epixremove.net

I could setup the game if everyone lists what sides they want to play.

Krec -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 7:41:01 PM)

i would like to try turkey

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 7:44:58 PM)

I will take Prussia if that is all right, but I have no real preferen. Scenario details are whatever everyone else wants. This is mostly just a PBEM tutorial for me! [;)]

my emails is munited18@hotmail.com

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 7:46:08 PM)

I would like to play Prussia or Britain but am willing to play as any country if somebody else wants those.

I am still in the "figuring out" stage as well so a shorter game of five years is ok with me. Standard and most glory are also ok with me.

my e-mail is JDJordan01@sbcglobal.net

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 7:56:44 PM)

Jordan you can take Prussia and I will take Britain if you want. I have played as both..

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 9:39:09 PM)

You got in first so if you want Prussia that's OK with me. Either way is fine. You choose.

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 9:42:24 PM)

ok. I'll take Britain

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 9:49:06 PM)

Prussia it is for me then. Is Fredrick the Great still alive in the 1805 scenario?

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 9:51:11 PM)

We've got Russia, Turkey, Britain and Prussia.

Could use an Austria and a France.

MarcelJV -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 9:56:20 PM)

I only suggested Standard Scenario as there is documentation from Ralegh on setup and first turns for each of the nations, which should give us a good start. I suspect we will not get through one year without wanting to restart as we learn about the game and the PBEM system.

So I have.

MarcelJV = Russia email sleens@epixremove.net
Munited18 = Britian emal: munited18@hotmailremove.com

kevyrec@sbcglobal.net = turkey

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 9:59:31 PM)

MarcelJV

Jordan is going to take Prussia and I will take Britain.

My email is munited18@hotmal.com

I am looking forward to getting started this evening...

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 10:08:31 PM)

JDJordan01@sbcglobal.net = Prussia

It looked like mac85 and guenter might be interested players (hopefully austria and france) should we wait a couple of hours (I'm currently noon in san francisco) to give them a chance?

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 10:11:26 PM)

I don't mind waiting since it is still about 5 hours before I can get on my computer. However, I would like to get things going tonight.

MarcelJV -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 10:20:22 PM)

I believe the turn sequence starts with France and goes in order of the screen when the game is setup.

I can setup and send the game to the first player, I think. Have not tried it with this game yet. Heck why don't I try it now. Get back to you in a few minutes.

OK, I am back, you did not notice? Munited18 you should start the game as Britian is after France in the PBEM system.

Start the game and select PBEM, then change Britian, Prussia, Russia, and Turkey to Human. Set Scenario to Standard, leave difficulty to Normal, Set game length to 5 years and victory to Highest Glory. When prompted call the game BPRTGame.

When emailing please zip the two files you need to send. Files end in .sve and .rep.

Here is the turn order and the email addresses as we have them.

Britian - munited18 Email: munited18@hotmailremove.com
Prussia - Jordan Email: JDJordan01@sbcglobalremove.net
Russia - MarcelJV Email: sleens@epixremove.net
Turkey - Krec Email: kevyrec@sbcglobalremove.net

Look forward to the game. Lets kick some French and Turkish ass.

MarcelJV -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 10:22:41 PM)

Ok, we can wait. If no more takers then munited18 will start the game tonight. IF we get a france player then he/she will need to start the game.

I will check back tonight 8:00 pm or so Eastern Standard Time to see where we are.

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 10:26:40 PM)

Ok guys, and girls possibly. How do I "zip" a file? Sorry to sound like a computer goober, but I am lucky to be able to turn mine on!

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 10:29:41 PM)

OK by me.

Didn't know we need to zip the files. I'll have to figure how to do that when I get home.

Krec -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 10:31:23 PM)

real easy , there are 2 files you just send them to the next player, very easy

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/11/2005 10:35:47 PM)

I've got the sending part down...done that. But I've never zipped a file before.
