Guenter -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/13/2005 11:52:58 PM)

Ralegh, have a close look at Sweden as I will be on vacation in late August/early September and you will probably have to replace me for a while - just for the case no one has won the game till then. I will also be out of town this weekend from Friday to Sunday. I will make my 1st move before that, but if any action from my side should be required this weekend, I will not be available.

Thanks,
G.

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/14/2005 1:40:54 AM)

OK, too bad because the weekend is where we might be able to move through some turns but we all said we wanted a slower paced game due to our schedules. Also, it's not a big deal since we've got three (4?) west coasters and two Europe so that makes for a longer turn around anyway.

TheRockSal -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/14/2005 2:54:34 AM)

Hey,

If the West Coasters want to try a TCP/IP game some night, Id be up for that!

Sent you a pm....

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/14/2005 3:13:54 AM)

Britain is done and it as been sent to Sweden

samthesham -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/14/2005 6:22:05 AM)

I am a West coaster as well. Would be willing for a TCP game if the time
is right.

Since each turn is a month, taking a few days per turn for military planning and
diplomacy seems just fine to me.

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/14/2005 7:07:30 AM)

I would be up for it, however I would have to do it such that I had scheduled nights and times, maybe a couple/three times a week....an eight year old and 7 month old will do that. My wife would be more amenable to that as well.

Best times for me are 6:00 to 7:30.

TheRockSal -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/14/2005 10:52:24 AM)

I have a buddy with an 8 and 1 year old and the only times he can play are when his wife and kids are asleep and by then I'm usually asleep.

Anytime after 5:30 Monday, wed., fri. are good for me. A bit later on the other days as I have racquetball committments.

I'll be free the next few weeks any day to play. Looking forward to my PBEM turn as Spain...I'm still working on my first turn ideas.

James

By the way, everyone:

You will note that I have the string "remove" in my e-mail
address. This should in fact be removed by you, the human
to get my actual address.

This practice prevents automated searchers from plucking your e-mail
address off the web and getting it on spam lists.

Its a good idea to use this practice. For instance, everyone could
have had "9999" added to their e-mail addresses on this post with
written instructions to remove the "9999" in the very same post.

I am currently in a PBEM and we are not using passwords, does that matter, and/or how do we change that?

Right-click on the map to get to the Set Policy menu.

The last choice should be about managing passwords.

You can set a password for yourself there. I recommend this because sometimes in a large game people will mistakenly send the turn to the wrong person, and he may open it without thinking, and see your position. So even if no malicious intent is involved, people can still find out things they shouldn't.

Everyone this was posted on another thread. I guess it is an individual choice so just disregard if you want..

Guenter -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/14/2005 9:28:51 PM)

Did my turn and sent the file to Prussia.

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/14/2005 9:36:28 PM)

We are rolling NOW![:D]

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/14/2005 9:37:59 PM)

Thanks Guenter. Currently 11:30 pst my time. Will play the turn around 6:00 and will send to Austria shortly thereafter (since I've solo played the first turn several times now).

MarcelJV -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/15/2005 12:47:27 AM)

I have updated all the posts with the word remove in the email addresses.
You will have to update your own post to add in the remove in your email.

Thanks for the advice.

TheRockSal -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/15/2005 12:53:49 AM)

England, I hope you are not going for me but I've warned you already and, tsk, tsk, if you didn't head the warning......I'm sorry for what will happen to you. [:-]

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/15/2005 7:02:55 AM)

sent the turn to Austria about 8:00 pst.

samthesham -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/15/2005 7:57:44 AM)

My turn is done....

MarcelJV -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/15/2005 4:35:22 PM)

I have the turn and will do in tonight. I got it this morning but it will take the better part of 1-2 hours to setup the economy and order my troops to invade prussia, Turkey, Sweden, Austria, Spain, England, and France....

ess1 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/16/2005 3:42:48 PM)

So, Gentlemen & Lady/ies, you have it going. Well done!
In the NWC we will be starting one soon and I will "pop in" to this thread to see how you are all doing. Valuable information.
Please continue furnishing us with your experiencies/queries.

TheRockSal -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/18/2005 6:15:09 PM)

This is Spain, still waiting for Krec (Turkey). Any day now! [;)]

MarcelJV -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/18/2005 6:24:00 PM)

I sent the turn to him and did not get an email bounce so I assume he got it.

I see from another thread that he was out of town and is just back, so I would expect the turn to show up soon.

TheRockSal -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/18/2005 7:09:25 PM)

Sweet....3 PBEM games and I haven't made a first turn in any of them...actually a good thing as I've played a lot more now while waiting my turn and am actually more ready now than I was when my PBEM games started!

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/18/2005 7:14:00 PM)

Well, that beats the heck out of me! I know more AFTER my turn and can't do anything about it![:@]
All the moves I made will probably bankrupt Engalnd in about 2 months! Hopefully, I will be better for having learned from my mistakes......grumblegrumblegrumble

Guenter -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/19/2005 8:35:59 AM)

Well, I still have no idea what effects my turn will have as I still hadn't enough time to get deeper into the game *sigh*

mac85 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/19/2005 11:55:39 AM)

We French have no idea either. I guess we're all in the same boat!

munited18 -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/19/2005 4:20:14 PM)

Mac, that's good to hear! (as we sharpen our bayonets..)

MarcelJV -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/19/2005 7:26:05 PM)

I have gotten to play through almost one year of Russia, so I know what to expect in regards to troops. I messed up the economy as I did my turn before I got to play more.

Speaking of turn Trec have you do the turn yet? Did you get it?

TheRockSal -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/19/2005 7:59:27 PM)

I received a PBEM turn last night..wasn't from Krec...and it took me 5 minutes looking through the PBEM game forums to figure out which PBEM game it was for.....I've played wargames for 20 years but never PBEM games and now I've got multiples........woo hoooooooooo, trial by fire.

Jordan -> RE: PBEM NEWBIE (7/19/2005 8:05:10 PM)

Our game is FBSPARTSGame correct? If yes and it wasn't from Krec, who was it from?
