Andy Mac -> RE: KB Inbound RED ALERT (1/9/2006 12:36:27 AM)

More of the same Saratoga Gp under Spruance is closing to offload a CAG onto Perth

Andy Mac -> RE: KB Inbound RED ALERT (1/9/2006 1:29:26 PM)

Pauk has landed 240 miles north of Perth over the beaches.

I dont like landing in non base hexes but I will live with it.

I never do it 1st in PBEM but personally I think it is a very very bad thing for the Japanese to do in the long run if I go coast hopping along China or via PI I will get a lot more advantage out of it than he will.

The Genie is out of the bottle he will reap what he has sown.

Andy

Andy Mac -> RE: Perth (1/10/2006 11:09:40 PM)

Quiet turn not much to say !!!!!

Pulled CAG back out as no tarets in range

Andy

Andy Mac -> RE: Perth (1/12/2006 3:46:54 PM)

Decision made I am going to take a risk on the East Coast.

I am diverting 1st Aust Corps to the North to release a force to clear the rail line.

I will bring over a US Div and a 2 NZ Bdes to provide security.

Massing Fighters at Chengtu to stop his bombing campaign and going to advance in central China to try and distract him from the West.

Andy

Andy Mac -> RE: KB Inbound RED ALERT (1/14/2006 5:14:01 PM)

Sorry guys still quiet not much to say he hast the strenght to take Perth but more will follow im sure. A little surprised he came in so light in 1st place didnt his recon tell him what I had there ?

Hmmmm

Andy

Andy Mac -> RE: KB Inbound RED ALERT (1/15/2006 5:01:07 PM)

OK a very interesting turn.

Japanese managed to shut down the AF at Perth again. I had shipped in a CAG but my elite nay pilots were shot out of the sky they never had a chance and the BB's finished the job on the AF.

Surely F4F's with 80 xp pilots should do better !!!! (I will remember this when I get F4U's)

In China the AVG got decimated with more elite Wildcats over Chunging. (In all I lost 90+ aircraft shooting down about 5)

Overasll not a good time for the allies.

I did try a few sneaky things my China AG above Changsa Hengchow crossed the undeclared border and managed to kick a small IJA unit of f of the X roads. Ill move on Hengchow with a blocking force moving towartds Changsa.

Andy

Andy Mac -> RE: KB Inbound RED ALERT (1/15/2006 9:32:54 PM)

Hmmm ok playing in the Gilberts to see how good my position can get !!!

Not sure how long Perth will hold I could lose a full Div here very easily I cannot withdraw because he has cut the lines behind me.

Andy

Andy Mac -> RE: KB Inbound RED ALERT (1/17/2006 1:53:00 PM)

The last few turns have been interesting.

He failed again north of Wuchow but his AV is getting closer to success and I am worried.

I have launched an all out distraction offensive in the North and East China its purely about distration no more.

My assault on Hangchow was defeated but I will keep up the pressure as my xp lkevels grow fast.

In the Gilberts I have sieved Makin and am bringing in more troops nothing huge but while he is away playing in Perth I am going to take advantage.

KB is there as was most of mini KB so I have to attack somewhere.

Lunga looks well protected so I am hitting the Gilberts. If he doesnt react soon I will try to grab Tarawa.

I have a Heavy surface TF and Hornet's TF at Palmyra refuelling I may bring them in to take Tarawa.

Andy

Andy Mac -> RE: KB Inbound RED ALERT (1/17/2006 11:33:18 PM)

Well I am having fun in the Gilberts the hammer will fall soon !!!!

This is going rather well I dont have Tarawa but my troops are landing in lots of unprotected bases in the Gilberts and Marshalls.

I will try for Tarawa soon so lets see what happens

Andy

Andy Mac -> Screw up in China !!!! (1/20/2006 6:46:34 PM)

I messed up at hengchow.

My troops got shock attacked out of Changsa and he pusued....

My main blocking army is now cut off in Hengchow with no way of getting out in the current layout. I got over aggressive and lost

I am screwed

You can't send them cross country? What about sending other troops cross country towards them to change the zoc?

Good luck -

Dave Baranyi

Andy Mac -> RE: Screw up in China !!!! (1/20/2006 7:49:40 PM)

Aye but every time he bombards me my movement is reset so that stack will get surrounded.

Andy

PzB74 -> RE: Screw up in China !!!! (1/20/2006 8:30:27 PM)

I just lost Nanning and 25k troops because I didn't notice that the hex to the west was Japanese owned 'J' [8|]
So 2 divisions couldn't retreat because of some invisible force field around my base. No wonder land combat gives
me the hickups....

If you set one of your bases as the objective the bombardments won't wipe out the movement as long as you've got an pathway that is under your control. (At least, that's how it works in v1.602...)

Good luck -

Should you be lurking in here?[8D]

PzB74 -> RE: Screw up in China !!!! (1/20/2006 10:53:21 PM)

Stop that, you're making me nervous - this isn't the Andy vs PzB thread [;)]

Andy Mac -> RE: Screw up in China !!!! (1/21/2006 1:59:04 AM)

Hehehehe nice to see you lurker !!!

I have tried to set the location as a base but if he can geta unit in that hex before me then I am surrounded and cutoff.

As a precaution I am going to start flying a UK Div to Chungking as I stripped it a little for the fight on the other side of the map.

Andy

PzB74 -> RE: Screw up in China !!!! (1/21/2006 4:16:43 PM)

You got two 'Allied strike back/Revenge of the Allies' threads on this forum Andy, I have too look both two and three times before
entering this one [;)]

I think a surrounded force should be allowed to attempt a breakout - if they successfully shock attack through the ring of defenders
around them they should be allowed to move out of the hex although taking heavy casualties.

Andy Mac -> RE: Screw up in China !!!! (1/21/2006 4:55:28 PM)

Hmmm Pauk neglected to leave a unit in the rail escape hex and elements of my army moved into it.

He should have left a unit there.

Lucky for me actually as the road to chungking would be open otherwise.

I agree on surrounded units.

I managed to retake Baker Island that really only leaves Narau and Tarawa itself its weird that he is letting me retake these islands.

Andy Mac -> RE: Screw up in China !!!! (1/21/2006 4:57:21 PM)

p.s. nice sig those are BIG guns .....

I have a 4 BB TF closing on Tarawa along with an Armoured Bn.

If I can take the island he will neeed to be carefull. It really accelerates the allied advance having forward bases for LBA. Add to that security for LOC and its not a great trade. Perth for CENTPAC not a choice I would make

Andy

Andy Mac -> RE: Screw up in China !!!! (1/21/2006 5:02:14 PM)

CENTPAC Offensive quite opportunistic ....

Andy Mac -> RE: KB Inbound RED ALERT (1/22/2006 8:41:33 PM)

Once again a reasonable turn IJN reaction in the Gilberts as the first enemy aircraft appear damaging some empty transports.

Hornet is nearbye so lets see what happens

Landings on Tarawa soon

Perth still stands but it wont be long...

My main issue is that once again we are fighting in China I detest japanese attempts to starve the theatre but he targets resources again. I should have asked for a quiet China houserule ah well to late now Ill go on trying to send another message today a B17 Gp sent in to flatten HK's repair yard again.

Im picking a target he will repair to try and get him to back off a little we all now China can be rolled over by the IJA big deal.

I got very very lucky at Changsa.

My entire army slotted into the gap left by Pauks troops as they retreated.
