Another place to visit along this type of topic was Fort de Russy, Honolulu. Coastal Battery that has been turned into a museum.

Unfortunately, I have no pics of this site to offer. Anybody else reading this been there?

Now that is a big gun - can rival Yamato's!

Nyet! This one's far smaller... probably a 12-incher...

ug...don't remind me....all those photos i snapped of pearl harbor and i didn't take the camera to Fort DeRussy and those marvelous tanks parked outside it.

they had a good mockup inside of what one of those concrete rooms looks like with 14inch shells inside it.

So now you know what brings our her true personality.....for mine, it's leaving trash cans full too long.

What is it with the trash cans? Same thing at my house. I personally don't see a problem with it as long as it doesn't overflow enough to block the fridge or the computer screen.

If we don't empty our trash cans......the Yellow Dog of Annoyance (otherwise known as the YDA) sneaks into the kitchen at night and leaves a suprise for me when it's time to go to work.

This morning it was Taco Bell wrappers all over the living room floor.

GF Mark I unit insisted on a road trip and wished to go explore "Olde Concrete" again since its a good way to spend a partially sunny afternoon with Boyfriend unit + dogage. (it also drags me away from the computer)

Now in posession of a digital camera, a return trip to Fort Worden seemed a good idea. If you've ever wondered what that little static LCU on the West coast looks like....here's your chance:

Picture 1. Looking NE from the main parade grounds just after you enter the fort. The houses in the distance were i believe officer's homes for self and family members (you can now rent one out for a weekend excursion though not all have been restored)

These pictures bring back old memories. I was stationed on Whidbey Island in the mid 80s and remember those forts well. Unfortunately most of my pictures were black and white or slides (I was a photography back then in the Navy).

Tolles sports a pair of interesting, non-disapearing gun foundations. The sight line to the Sound is still quite intact as well.
