After my 2 weeks away from WITP due to family stuff, and board exams. Tom and I are back. So far its been just under a year since we started this game, and we played 2 years worth of game time...thanks to 2-day turns. With that in mind, i figure we have about 6-10 months left before we finish the game.

Just in case everyone forgot how we got to this point, or if your new to our AAR, then here is a summary of the last 2 years to bring everyone up to speed.

(forgive me Tom for any errors, as i made these pictures based on memory solely)

First....the year of 1942 - Japan's year

the year of 1943 - Allied year

Allied carrier raid on Brunei sinks a super convoy and puts over 60k worth of oil into the water as well as destroying the flower of my ASW force. Everone else is running away as fast as they can. Can I change R&D factories to work on producing hybrids? I have a feeling I am going to be short on oil soon.

Only good new for me is that a probing attack at Chungking showed that the real AV fell again so last month's attck was not a fluke.

The oil crisis has begun. Kenny used carrier AC and 4e bombers to attack my oil in the DEI. I now lack the oil to run all my HI and will have to start using up my reserves. It is going to be a long 2 years.

My subs managed to score torp hits on 2 CVLs.
Hopefully they will slow them down enough for the Bettys and the KB to finish them off

Sank a single empty Allied AK North West of the Marianas. Is this a test of the defenses or just a wayward ship? Now Kenny needs to ask himself if the small strike was due to the fact that :

1. There are not too many strike AC present
2. The strike was small due to a single ship target
3. Most of the AC were on naval search
4. I had AC on training

It does bother me however, that this ship got to where it was without being spotted earlier.

Intel tells me there is about 1000 planes b/t the 3 islands.

quote:

2. The strike was small due to a single ship target

correct, i have about 200 B24's at Ambiona and only 12 of them attack that japanese Maru a couple turns back

quote:

3. Most of the AC were on naval search

quote:

4. I had AC on training

since my AK snuck up without being spotted, i would say the answer is #4. The Mariana's seem to make fine base's for such. Level 7 AF, close to the front line, non-malaria. I want them. Darwin and Cairns are still my main base's, as they are the only non-malaria base's i own in the SWPAC.

quote:

It does bother me however, that this ship got to where it was without being spotted earlier.

Well at least the stupidity of the skipper accomplished something....

On a different note, the allies have built a super-cargo ship, and she's now operating in the SWPAC. Here's some free intel..

Lost the 2 TKs that were hit by subs yesterday but I sank 2 subs with DCs and damaged another with AC. O19 was spotted off the HI so one of my ports must be mined.

Probing attack at Chungking showed little change in the last 20 days.

The last 3 months of 1943 saw the Allies clear out all of New Georgia, the Solomons, and NG. I have 30,000 troops holding on at Lunga and tying up Allied troops there.

The low point for me was in mid-December when a carrier raid sank a fully laden oil convoy along with it's valuable escorts. My subs damaged 2 CVLs and sent them running for home but did not sink them. 4E bombers and carrier AC attacked the oil on Borneo and I am now using my oil reserves to keep the heavy industry going. Production lines are being cycled on and off as needed to conserve HI points.

I seem to be making progress at Chungking due to constant attacks by level bombers and fighters. Several probing attacks this quarter saw the adjusted AV fall to levels where an attack might be possible in early 1944.

O19 left me presents at Nagaski which seriously damaged an AK and and escort. SS Dace sank today but her sister subs hit an escort with a torp.

Allied carriers raided Toyahora. I have a feeling that this is bait to lure the KB out to play so my response will be measured. I have only spotted 1 CVL but I doubt it is the full Allied carrier force. LBA has been sent to deal with the threat.

Keopang held against the initail assault. I doubt they will hold another day.

I had over 300 planes arrive today. They are off to train in China as their exp levels are in the 40s. They will be relieving AC that have trained up to the 70s.

Keopang fell but the troops contine to fight on in the jungle. New squadrons are gaining experience fast bombing Chungking. The good pilots gain experience and the bad ones become OPs losses. Very Darwinian but very effective.
