Well said ,mlees. I would just add that writing helps you come to a clearer understanding of of what or how you personally believe about subjects discussed.

Thankfully, this thread got away from Les fishing for sympathy.

I've joined numerous online communities which includes a number of people here.  I'm not gonna cry if I never meet them in person.  I have a bit of a life outside the internet.

He's merely shopping his manifesto around elsewhere.

Seem's like he tosses stuff up just to get an opportunity to fawn about himself.

Eventually, enough people clue into what's happening to put a stop to it.

Hey as a big Fan of Les' I might remind you that he was subtly reiterating that the "rules are different for him" as well they should be....

he is after all an icon to the "unified wargaming community"....

Les comes across as seriously creepy.

Like Gollum, but with less charisma.

There must be some sort of font he selects for that effect.

He hardly needs organized detractors, his own posts illuminate the dysfunction.

Though on the reputation busines, he seems to be in the same boat as Marley; forging his own chains link by link.

I can't believe I spent 3 minutes reading this pretentious bullshit. This line from Billy Madison sums it up perfectly:

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Couple of things,

Who do I ask if I want the last ten minutes of my life back?

I am going to try and pretend I'm standing in a room full of persons, though, just to see if I can get a feel for what this has all been about. I'm thinking I should reserve judgement until I have tried it.

Secondly, are you related to Knuckles 95. He posts over at Mad Cows. I'm guessing he must be a cousin or something?

Anyway, he's a bit of an arse, but you're way cooler than he is, and you can tell him I said so when you see him over at your Aunts for dinner.

Cheers,
IronDuke

P.S. Whilst pretending I was standing in a room full of persons, I inadvertently imagined some of them by the door, and now I can't get out as my previous lack of interaction with them means they are ignoring me when I ask them to get out of the way.

My question then, o Cool Cousin of that £$$^ Knuckles 95, is which is crazier. Imagining I am standing in a room full of people, or getting aggressive with these imaginary people and demanding they get the $%%& out of the way.

Veb,
Are ad hominem attacks permissable if the individuals being insulted are figments of my imagination?

Confused.

Have you noticed he's been a lot grouchier since he retired? Methinks he should get a job stacking shelves at Wal-mart to keep busy. A lot of retired people do that over here. They apparently make for far more dependable employees and the stores love them. I'd hate to see him start spending his days in the Study gathering dust, though, so it would be a Wal-mart - Vebber win win.

Veb's going to get a consulting job, with KBR at the very least, most likely Hallibuton though.

I suspect that he is already heavilly engaged in planning for the re-building of mosques in Iran.

Knuckles_95 isn't my cousin he's my protege and is definitely an insufferable ass. On the bright side I am screwing his wife even though she's a Packer fan from Sheboygan

Even better, I work for the Government...though the "retirement from the reserve" thing doesn't seem to get across to my kids either "how come you still go to work...?"

"Um I only went to 'do Navy stuff' on weekends, remember?"

"So why do they call it 'retiring' you never really did much of anything..."

From the mouths of babes ;)

I still work...infact I've got more travel lately I got one of those "Premier" delaios that get me free drinks and an upgrade... AS I've been doing les modeling work and more excercise planning and execution (er "experiment" (sic) )

My workload had me semi-retired from Matrix, I'm hoping that might turn around in the near future a bit...I have a couple projects from the NAval War College that have been interesting, but may not have commercial application.

Well, you have to attack yourself, since its your imagination conjuring the rascals up...

Baking. That is the ticket. When we get fed up with the pointy-haired bosses we talk about how we can all quit and start a bakery. Nothing like the smell of hot dough in the morning to calm you nerves and ceter your psyche ;)

Knuckles_85: The son of Knuckles_95 must not become a Jedi.
Knuckles_95: If he could be turned, he would be a powerful ally.
Knuckles_85: Yes. Yes. He would be a great asset. Can it be done?
Knuckles_95: He will join us or die, my master.

..first sensible thing you've said..

..errrrr, except i've no foxes here, and i'm not hunting the filipino deer, they're habitat was mostty wiped out to provide garden furniture for our favourite and only remaining super-power..

..i do miss hunting on horse-back, with dogs, at least in France i could do wild boar and deer, but in an ex-Super-Power colony, i can't do either..sighhhhhhhhh

..
