I thought that there were a few more units that fit these clues so I was actually thinking of another unit. My bad.

Since it can't be any other unit, Warspite1, you must be correct. Congratulations.

I actually had a ship in mind so I continue looking for that ship. Please ignore the fact that the first two clues point at the German 5-4 Alpine Corps.

I can't quite read her name on the side, my eyesight is not that good, but I will go for "Penelope".
Warspite1

I will go for Landing Craft Assault (LCA) - but not confident.


It is similar Landing Craft Assault (LCA) but the difference is in the details.

The Landing Craft Assault (LCA) was controlled from behind the shield the starboard side.

Here is a good view from a paper model of a LCA


This landing craft has two .30-caliber machine guns and was controlled from behind the port machine gun position.

Just a FYI: The writing on the landing craft is PA1814.




Last clue: "P" stands for personnel.






Answer: Landing Craft Personnel (Ramped) or LCP(R)

Yes. She won a ship vs ship engagement.

I think that these three clues might be enough to guess the ship I am looking for. It can't be many that qualify for all three clues.

Edit: Hint. Not all ship counters available for WIF were included in WIFFE. Some of them were included in one of the expansions. In MWIF some ships are included as an option.

maybe it is part of cruisers in flames or ships in flames

im thinking of that ship that fought Sidney ..cant remember her name

No, not Kormoran. But you are correct in how you think.

I am not sure that I would call Kormoran victorious since she was scuttled as a result of the battle with HMAS Sydney.

You are correct.

The ships you mention are all Leander Class Cruisers. You knowledge is great. Therefore I am a bit amazed that you missed that the ship I was looking for was HMNZS Leander. Did you miss clue 4?

The ship versus ship battle that HMNZS Leander won was against the Italian auxiliary cruiser Ramb I.

I was just about to answer 7th Fallschirmjäger Division. But it can't be since I belive it fought mainly on the western front.
