I just went through the post-season with one of my associations, and I think something is amiss. The budget for each team in the association (35-player teams) is $10,927,270. After the new season started, I looked at the lists of position players and pitchers. To my horror, I noticed that fully 50% of the position players will be looking for contracts in excess of $1.5 million/year next time they renew. And 25% of them will want $3.8 million to $23 million/year. Similar numbers exist for pitchers, although it's not quite as extreme. It wasn't like this--at least, I don't think it was--before going through the post-season with the new RC. Right now there are only 6 players in the association being paid over $1 million, the highest being ~$1.9 million. It doesn't take a genius to see that something is out of whack here. How can any team afford a $23 million player with a budget less than half that? Does this seem wrong to anyone else, or is it just me?
