Hmmm... BBC is reporting that the RAF is shutting down 9 Nimrods that were to be based at Kinloss. I don't know how that will impact Brother Dixie but I hope he is unscathed by the cuts.

Inspired by Leo's post the other day, here are some "instructions" for a potato peeler. The word I've obscured begins with "f", has four letters, and is exactly what you think it is (even if it makes less than total sense).

Good. I couldn't remember if he worked on Nimrods or Tristar types. Either way they are old planes

Since it is being reported in the media it could still be wrong info, journalists are terrible about military equipment. Therefore I'll continue to hope that his unit doesn't get the disband/withdrawal button pressed.

What can I say? Mynok was correct. It was howitzers and ho's.

Here's hoping that you had paid a King's ransom in Political Points to extricate them-to the bottom of Manila harbor.

Bah! What's a few hundred PP's when we'll be swimming in them in another month or two?

OK, so.....silly question. What is the difference between a Cargo TF and a Transport TF?

Cargo is for cargo: fuel, supply, oil, resources.

Transport is designed to move troops efficiently by sea. They have to be in Strat Move mode.

So you cant load oil and resources in Transport TFs. I know you can load fuel and supply in Cargo TFs (I tried it).

I don't believe so. Easy enough to test by just creating one in a hex that has resources and oil and see if the button is active.

You can load oil and resources in transport TFs. I don't think there's any difference between transport and cargo TF. Not sure why it was included, probably the AI uses different scripts for both TFs.

Interesting. There is a lot of difference between a Transport and an Amphibious TF for moving troops, so it definitely serves a purpose.

I do believe the Cargo TF type is only to aid the AI in selecting appropriate ships. Absolutely a big difference between Transport and Amphibious.

Yes, same with transport and tanker TF: no difference for the player, but the AI needs both.

Although I do put my TKs in tanker TFs, just to get the different task force symbol.

I'm sorry, was the "them" to which you referenced swimming your LCUs or political points?

I'm sure plenty more of "them" will be swimming.

I found out against the AI that with the new surface intercept and sub attack possibilities, getting stuff out of the PI is extremely chancy. Against bloodthirsty villains like these.....well.....

Per, maybe you can find an opponent to take over his side. Your old opponent could PM the password to a potential new opponent.

Right. That's why I have absolutely no issues. He finally got his priorities straight.

Mike, thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I want to continue that game vs another opponent though, as I've put down so much time "reading/shaping" him to do what I wanted him to do ... Getting a new player looking at the situation with fresh eyes would mean I had to start all over again

I'd rather start a new game in its entirety to test some new things. Will hold at least a couple of weeks though, probably until after christmas. Things are quite hectic at work right now, so I really could use some "AE vacation".

Tankers and transports, mostly the transport role at the moment. 216 is heavily involved in the Afghanistan airbridge which takes most of our time.

Still nothing in the detail sorted yet, but we (the RAF) are losing 5000 bods. No idea as yet where they're going to come from or how this affects me trying to extend my service dates. I've been told that the SDSR won't affect my chances of further service, but I'm not sure I believe that.

Still, Harriers are gone. VC-10 and Tristar are going. RAF Scotland is winding down. No Nimrods, not sure how the TN feel about that. Tornado fleet is being scaled back. Several bases will be closed. maybe the Pongoes will move in when we move out.

The Nimrod situation doesn't affect me directly, but who knows what will happen down the line. I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be on 216 now until either myself or the Tristar is out of service, the out date isn't far ahead for either of us now so they probably won't be sending us masses of manpower just to move them again soon.

If civvy street wasn't such a mess I wouldn't be too concerned, but the chances of getting a job that pays as well as this one are probably quite slim back home. Time to look into airline licences and OU courses methinks.

I'll stop now before I start ranting about politics I can discuss more away from the public eye if you really want to know what I think
