Cletus: I wish I could do that.
Buford: Cletus, I think that dog would bite you.

Now, that one actually made me laugh

It might not make sense, but at least it's not racist

I'd rather make sense.

You know, I'm inclined to let you have that one. After all, if Terminus is to be believed, you guys are all effeminate and drunk, surely you have no interest in chainsaws. The moose story on the other hand.......

What do you mean "if"?

It was the politically correct thing to say.

What do you mean "if"?

It's "if" as in "if we accept that all Danes are the paragon of truth"?

As to the moose part; Yuri, do you seriously believe that any self-respecting Swede would be satisfied with only six moose? Pfft ...

Under normal circumstances you would be right, of course. But I hear that the Canadians are just as attached to their moose (moosen?) as you guys are.

Two Swedes - Sven & Ole got a pilot to fly them to Canada to hunt moose. They bagged six. As they started loading the plane for the return trip, the pilot said the plane could take only four moose. The two lads objected strongly, 'Last year we shot six and the pilot let us put them all on board; he had the same type plane as yours.' Reluctantly, the pilot gave in and all six were loaded. However, even on full power, the little plane couldn't handle the load and went down a few moments after take-off. Climbing out of the wreck Sven asked Ole, 'Any idea where we are?' 'Yaaah ai tink vi are pretty close to vere vi crashed last yer.'

Hi guys.

Oh. By the way, since it's your first time here and all...it's important for you to know this: we're all insane. Every last one of us.

Fair warning.

I'll fit right in then. My fiancee thinks Im insane too, spending all that time infront of the computer, playing war. I think it also freaks her out that I know not only what a Zero is, but also know the model number and that is has a nakajima engine... well, Im sure those of you who are in relationships have similar experiences...

Of course. My wife does occasionally humor me with the cursory, 'So, how goes the War in the Pacific?' question. It's the same one she's been asking me now for 7 years. That's my cue to share as much as I can with her in about 30 seconds before her eyes glaze over. Even in minutes of mortal terror in the game, I can't go past 30 seconds.

Me: "My Mini-KB just got ambushed and liquidated!"
Her: "That's nice, dear."

I thought it was nice.

Please notice that at least two of these guys would be classed as officers.

*At least*, eh?

Had a great day off.  Got up early to take my son to school, then came back home and slept in with my wife until noon.  Had some coffee, ordered a new pair of glasses, picked up a movie and popcorn, ordered a pizza, and settled in for an evening with the family.

Life is good.

I know from personal experience that your infrastructure is good. That's why I got so surprised about that rolling blackout.

It's a sad truth that we have a serious self-imposed problem with infrastructure. They money has been there over the years, but political decisions are made to spend it otherwise. In cases where private investment is the issue, there is a combination of things like 'Not in my neighborhood' and 'We think you don't need another power plant {then} Hey, why am I experiencing a blackout???'

Remember one of the laws of physics: "Stupid hurts."

Amen to that "Not in my neighbourhood" mentality. It exists in abundance over here too :-/

That is one of the strange truths about infrastructure efficiency. The more efficient, the more vulnerable. When it comes to public works, economy of scale is a good thing; I mean, it's frikkin cheaper so the politicians can give all those saved dollars directly to their voting blocks to protect their phony-balony jobs! Technically it's good too; one BIG plant can provide the power of several smaller ones with consequent reductions in emissions, fuel costs, yadda-yadda-yadda.

Okey, dokey, so mess with just one of them BIG things and you will have chaos from Tennessee to Nevada trying to pick up the slack. Go(d)sh I love efficiency. And I thank the Universal (Providence, Truth, God, Dollar) that the Federal Govt is "very concerned" about this. Damn, I feel really good now.

Now looky here, we be having none of that chaos stuff in my neck of the woods , thank you very much !

Hi all,

Stacey Champion, Minnesota Woman, Tries To Mail Puppy In Box

MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis woman has been charged with animal cruelty after postal workers say she tried to mail a puppy to Atlanta in a sealed box with no air holes.

Postal Service spokesman Pete Nowacki says employees became suspicious when the box suddenly fell off the counter after the woman left the post office Jan. 25. Postal inspectors opened the priority mail parcel and found a 4-month-old poodle mix, panting hard, inside.

Police Sgt. William Palmer says without the postal workers' intervention, the puppy would certainly have died in the airplane's unheated and non-pressurized cargo hold. It also had no food or water.

The Star Tribune says 39-year-old Stacey Champion has been charged with animal cruelty. The dog was taken to the city's animal control facility.

I think I have this set saved somewhere - this is the only Vietnam set I had...

I should have about 300+ plastic 1:35 soldiers (Germans, British, Russians, Americans, Japanese)!

Think Monty Python and the Holy Grail... "Brave Sir Robin bravely ran away"

The Sir Robin strategy describes the allied strategy of pulling as many of his troops as possible out of the path of the initial Japanese onslaught, hoping to use those troops to stop a Japanese invasion of Australia and/or India.
