Thanks TJ and Igard, great support as usual.

Here is a preview of something I've been working on. These are by far the most difficult ships I made for the mod and I've been working on them since the Teekan update. Whole shipsets have been made in quicker time than these two ships, which I've scrapped and started again about five times I'm finally happy with them, then I realise I forgot to change the texture on the front end of one of them to differentiate them , but I'll probably just leave them as they were such a pain. Anyway, now their done, just got to show them Ugnari Colossal Spheres

Could there be a version issue? The races.txt files says "DW Version 1.5" while I am on 1.6.

Welcome to the forums, greywolf1. There is no version 1.6 as yet. Do you mean 1.0.6? If so, then you will need the Return of the Shakturi expansion to update to 1.5.

Excellent work here. I'll be honest, this modpack REALLY convinced me to purchase this game and the expansion. Unfortunately, I have a lone planet destroyer heading to my home planet that I am dreading...

Quick question, is there any limit on the number of ship packs I can have installed and how does the game detect what I can pick from? For example, can I have alternate Frigate ship models or am I stuck to one? I know I can select from more then one in creation... basically, I LOVE having variety and diversity.

Excellent work!

Those look excellent. Time for another game with the Ugnaris for sure.

About the Securan: They look great, but still something is bothering me about them. I really can't put my finger on it. Maybe I've just played too much games and have no real love for beatiful shapes, or something like that. Go figure.

With the original DW you can have 9 shipsets maximum installed.  With the RotS expansion you can have 22 (one per every race).  This mod is not compatible with the original DW (thanks to Igard for pointing that out, I had forgotten!), you must have the RotS expansion installed to play it.  If you create a custom design, I believe you can choose any ship pic installed from the list in the designer, but I'm not entirely sure, I play with the ship design on auto, so not that sure about the designer screen

Thanks guys. A quick reply to the comments you made:
- Yes, it is 1.0.6.
- Diverse Worlds is the only mod I'm using, and I hadn't installed any versions of this mod before 9.
- All I did was to extract the contents of the zip file to the DW - Customization folder, and to change the theme. When I changed back to default, everything was ok again.

In the meantime, I have tried version 10 (no change), and I was installing DW plus mod on a very different PC (XP instead of Vista etc)- same error.

Woodman, Igard might be right - is the expansion a prerequisite for your mod? It's certainly a potential explanation. If yes, then what's the last version compatible with 1.0.6? And is the dependancy on the expansion deliberate, or an accident?

Yes I'm sorry Igard is right, I got confused between Vanilla and Expansion version numbers.  The mod is compatible only with RotS expansion, vanilla DW works differently and one shipset per race (the long term aim of the mod) is not possible in vanilla DW.

You could extract some of the graphics from the mod and use them in the original DW if you like, but you would have to create a mod in the customization directory yourself to do this and more than 1 race would use the sets. I think there is a customization guide stickied on the forum that explains how to do this.

Edit: I'll add a note to the first page about RotS required.

For info, the ambitious Naxx plan is to make their ships look like birds, they are dinosaurs with feathers But I doubt I could make them to be honest.

Like in Sword of The Stars: A Murder of Crows? The feathered bird-dinosaur-aztec-aliens? XD

Regarding the Securans, I dont know... I REALLY love the shipset you created, they are beautiful, sleek, but i think it would fit better with one of the "super-sleek grey-wannabe" races, like the big-headed human race (LOL forgot their name).

I dont know, but the Securans always gave me a Stargate Goa'Uld vibe, partly due to their desert planet homeworlds and egypt-style make-up on the portrait and the vanilla ship designs.
I kinda expected something like pyramid shapes and soft sand-tones or gold-tones, so i must say your shipset totally surprised me.
It looks amazing, but for me personally, it doesnt fit the Securans but rather some over-evolved near-ascension humanoid race.

Thanks for the kind comments and positive feedback all.

@Sim, more Ugnari coming soon, but its a side project as due to the small sizes all the ships are coming out at I am having to either a)enlarge and compensate with sharpening and stuff, or b) paint unenlarged textures over enlarged shapes, so it takes longer than usual. So soon, but not yet, 4 of the 5 colossal spheres are done, the Cap, Cruiser, Contructor and Colony, Resupply still to go. I also made the freighters and escort, but nothing else yet.

@Bal & JHGT, sorry guys this was just how I imagined them, I guess it was a combination of their Utopian government and the fact they always end up the most powerful AI empires in my games But, if there is a shipset I haven't released yet I'm definately up for suggestions and ideas.

The next update will probably be the Wekkarus, maybe tomorrow night if all goes well

Here is a preview (I know some of the pipe patterns didn't match up perfectly)

I think the pipes look just fine as does the ship. Seems like another great set.
And don't mind me. I love to have more variety in games, the fact that I get heebie-jeebies from your Securan ships won't change that.

Thanks, WoodMan. It's a pity I can't use your mod, but you have a good point for your decision to base it on the expansion. And it's your baby :-) - keep going!

The original DW was a fantastic game.  Enjoy it for a while and seriously consider getting the expansion at some point, the expansion is also fantastic in my opinion.

Hi all!

The Wekkarus are ready and v11 is now available on the first page. They are perhaps the strangest looking set in the mod, especially if you look at them individually or in windows. However, when grouped together they give a good vibe and look pretty cool

Hence, a screenie:

Securan always remind me of Syreens from Star Control 2. Anyway, I liked their original shipset even if it was shared with some other races. It fitted the securans best I think. I'm guessing the Securan ships are quite simple, "aerodynamic", sleek, practical and don't have many extra shiny bits. Oh well, we'll see soon enough. I trust in Woodmans imagination, which I have plenty, and skill, which I have none. Therefore the respect for Woodmans work.

I totally agree, great work on the shipset, Woodman!

Another great shipset. Haven't ever played with Wekkarus but maybe I should give 'em a go sometime. Their wave-blasters sound like they could do some serious damage.

I can't start a new game with this latest version. The game loads ok but after setting up the game and pressing start I get the error "Cannot start this game"

Loading a previous save woks fine though.

Same here Setekh. The game gets unhandled expectation whenever it needs to show the new Wekkarus ships. You can start a new game as long as there's no need to show Wekkarus. Tested this by putting the Wekkarus near me, and as soon as I made contact with them and zoomed to one of their ships the game crashed. It's obvious there's something messed up with the new Wekkarus graphs.
I hope Woodman gets this sorted out quickly.

Guys I can't find the problem, they work fine on my computer. I also moved out my theme folder and used the one I downloaded from the link provided to check if the file became faulty during upload, and that also works fine. I tested both as Wekkarus themselves and as Humans where I used the editor to place Wekkarus ships near my homeworld. Both times worked fine and I had no crash

Here is a screenie of my playing as the Weekarus, you can see the Wekk portrait on my planet:

I don't know whats causing the crash, how did you install it? Are you sure the file structure is correct?

I will try downlaoding the file again and try it out.
Basically, I overwrite the races.txt, about.png, about.txt with new ones then just extract the shipsets folder into images folder. I'll try extract V.11 again with a little different way to see if it helps.

Keep it up Woodman, really enjoying your work. Just finished playing a big game with version 10 (with a little BSG flavour in there too ;)) but I'll be starting a new game tonight with version 11.

Did you notice that you replaced all races of ship set 8? Perhaps your next set should be numbered 8 to fill the gap?

Phew! Got it working. It was probably just me doing something little wrong. Completely erasing the Diverse worlds folder from customisation and then installing V.11 fresh removed the problem. No problems now.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Well spotted, I was looking at this last night as I've reached set 21 now, I can't go any higher   Set 8 next.

Good to hear!  I'm guessing this was something to do with file structure, when I unzipped the file it put stuff in the wrong place and so I had to delete it and then manually copy the stuff out of the zip, a pain

Hey all!  I will be uploading v11fixed later today, there is a massive bug   Basically, set 20 is included and its the unfinished Ugnari set, so, if you find the Ugnari half their ships will be made up of the upcoming set and half made up of their default set.  However, if you want a preview of the upcoming Ugnari set, take a peek

Hehe, thanks!

The fixed version is now available for DL. There were no changes to the race file, just image replacements so it should be save game compatible with v11.

Cheers, and sorry for any inconvenience!

Edit: Oh did I mention, half way! 11 down, 11 to go!

Hi Woodman,
You need to look at "Family20" from your latest upload. It doesn't have your shipset in it, it has an original!
