It seems that ara has broken a few of his panzers apart. I'm sure the time will come when i can make him pay for that.

What I was looking at are those Axis arty and AFV losses being tiny compared to Soviet losses.

ok. But they should be very high for Soviets in relationship to axis. Soviets need to be pummeled the first several turns and mostly all summer. If not, the axis will be in for a very rude surprise in Dec and possibly a lose of the initiative in 42. I think Bill should probably try and counter attack the Panzer spearheads as often as possible, even if you don't win it should sill attrition them and force them to burn supplies.

Well even though your opponent has crossed the Dnepr by Kiev, it appears he is probably now dealing with some serious logistics issues.  You should have time to reform a line further east before he can move again.  I'm willing to wager he's not close enough to a railhead to do a HQ buildup yet.  After looking over the Pelton vs Flaviusx, it appears there's a fine balance to feed the axis monster to delay and get factories out.  The Soviets can afford to do this to some extent in order to buy some time.  You seem to be buying some time in the south.

Ya i've been throwing a few counter attacks here and there. But most of the attacks have resulted in 0 kills on the axis side. I guess that is a change in the newer revisions of the game. I used to just attack and attack to twiddle the axis giant down. Now it appears that options is taken away so it's a little more retreating and mobile movement. I always forget the concept that the panzers can move 25 hexes at times. :) That's a lot of movement so i sometimes fall into the encirclement traps.

Yea I needed to put some space between us to get a turn or two to let those new shattered units rebuild. The way it was going i think i have a couple turns where he is going to focus on reducing kiev. It might actually just be 1 more turn. But my reinforcements have been going to the rzhev line to try to get some forts in production before he starts.

Are you planning to make fortified zones. Believe they are cheaper now in V1.05. Been looking at your opponent's AAR. Nice to be able to see both perspectives now. So is the turn on you now? Since abulbulian's last post was turn 5.

Well i forgot about the new fort rules and  have not built any. So i've probably screwed my changes of defending moscow in 41.
I just got the next turn i should be able to start on it today.

Well I don't think losing Moscow is as big a deal as it probably should be. I've seen other players lose it and still have no problem kicking the Axis around in 1942 and onward. The trick will be getting out most of the production before it's lost.

Losing moscow would not have been a major problem in real life either. Read Absolulte war the russians had already evac'd the government back to the hinterland and setup a backup capital.

Btw sorry for the delay my wife is getting let go where she works so having to help with that. Hopefully will get to work on the turn tonight.

God damnit ;( one of my odessa defense units was on reserve and caused itself to get routed off the city.  So Odessa fell...a mistake on my part.

Not to take anything away from ara he's doing a great job. But i'm super aggravated with how i'm playing this game. With such a long break since i played WitE last I'm super rusty. My biggest problem getting my head around is the amount of terrain those damn tanks can cover in 1 turn. So i open up the turn to see giant encirclements. Regardless the red army is going to defend forward and fight at every opportunity. I have a feeling i'm not going to go into winter as well off as i was last game. Last game with ara i was fighting for kharkov throughout the winter.

I just have to keep in mind that even though it's only T5 the germans should begin slowing down now.

Ahh at least around smolensk we've found an opportunity to punish ara for being a bit too aggressive. A few mobile units were punished and might get a rout out of another.

It sure helps put some wind back in your sails when you can abuse an over aggressive opponent. :) Perhaps his excellent advance and my poor play in the south and that silly lvov pocket (It's not a gambit because there really is no sacrifice that the german player has to make. Yes i do the pocket when i play germany too since it's a no brainer. ) lulled ara into a false sense of security.

This turn certainly put a bit more wind in my sails. Cut off 2 MD 1PD near smolensk. Cut off wiking in the south. Routed a 3rd MD. Really helps.

We had to hit the 20th MD with everything we had but we managed to route them. It is a small victory but the small victories help morale.

In the south we kept trying some more encirclements. We rushed forward and tried to tie ara's hands a bit

We did manage to cut off Wiking. I hope this will cause ara to slow down and be a bit more cautious.

With the wiking situation i had 9th Army that was trying to protect the flank of odessa. With odessa captured i was able to shift them to help keep wiking under wraps.
