Hi all, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2185222/Shocked-passenger-looks-Alaska-Airlines-plane-maintenance-note-damaged-wing.html quote:
The shocking picture taken by passenger who looked out window of Alaska Airlines plane in mid-air to see maintenance note on damaged wing By Daily Mail UK A passenger on an Alaska Airlines flight bound to Seattle looked out the window and saw what appeared to be a damaged area on the wing with a handwritten note saying, 'We know about this.' The incident July 28 drew comments on Twitter and other social media websites, but the Seattle-based airline says there was nothing to worry about. Spokeswoman Bobbie Egan said Tuesday that it was an approved trim repair to the corner flap on the right wing. Nervous sight: Passengers warned airline crew about what looked like a faulty wing so eventually they had to put a note saying 'We know about this' to calm them down: Rookie error: Alaska Airlines said there was nothing to worry about when one of their passengers looked out the window and saw a maintenance sign on a damaged wing: A maintenance technician wrote to let the flight crew know. Egan says, 'The message was the result of someone's good intentions' but the wing note 'was not appropriate and did not follow company procedures.' Airline officials seem to have known about the issue and understood fliers concerns but dismissed them anyhow. 'And before every flight, pilots do a walk around the plane, and they kept seeing the section repair and pointing it out and kept filing a report saying, "you need to fix it,"' said airline spokesman Paul McElroy. The message was immediately removed, and Alaska apologizes for any alarm it may have caused. Leo "Apollo11"
