Gotta love this game. The suspense of watching the CR when there's a lot of fighting going on is worth every krona spent.

I love that too, Per. I'm a nervous wreck when watching carrier battles in particular. Awesome!

Hi all,

I managed to jam three middle fingers of my right (main) arm in car door yesterday...

I am now typing with left hand plus thumb and semi-functional index finger on the right hand...

I can still somehow hold mouse and slowly type...

Leo,

Please forgive the candor that I reserve for a Thread brother, but I'm bound by principled conviction to make an observation:

That was a silly thing to do to yourself.

Hope you're better soon.

Actually that was a F111c. There were only 2 FB-111 squadrons , and all FB-111's are gone (or in museums , like the one in the SAC museum we went to). The FB-111 was a slightly "streched" version, designed as a "nuclear penetrator" , where as the F-111 is a general purpose light bomber. I have seen a video of a F-111B using it's tail hook.(The F-111B was the carrier version in the original TFX, all service "fighter" program. The Navy version , designed to carry the AIM-54 Phoneix missile , was found after carrier trials to be too heavy for carrier duty. The F-14 was to replace it, as well as carry the Phoenix).

Some where out there must be a video of it's CV acceptance trails.

Here's a link that connects with a couple of video's. http://www.usscoralsea.net/pages/f111.php

Yes, I agree with AW1Steve, USS Mike. Relax and take some time off to get better. In the 3-4 days you take off, I should catch up to and bypass your post count.

Yeah, yer right. Plus, the Aussies flying the thing had an F111c arm patch on too.

I'll check out those carrier videos-graci!

So, AW1-have you ever seen a tailhook landing of an F-111c before?

Even better yet, hot buttered rum, if desired, with a touch of honey. Enjoy.

Nope. I've never even seen a F-111C. Or a F-111B. Unless you count on video's.

All I've seen is F-111A's and lot's of FB-111's. One of the two squadrons that had them was the 509th, which used to be based at Pease AFB, in Portsmouth NH. Not far from where I grew up.

Come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing a tailhook used for a land landing.

You're on the right track, mate. I don't want to give you any more hints, lest it spoil the gift that I will be bringing with me for you at our upcoming summit.

Speaking of which?...

Spoiler! This time I'd hope to have it for you! I'm waiting for more information from Yuri. My own trip to the east coast is on hold till we can determine the exact date.

Shall we try that again...

Spitfire MK356 at RAF Odiham last night, waiting for her chance to break free and go flying. She was down at Odiham for the Battle of Britain celebration at the base.
