I'm not the best at equipment identification, but please tell me that isnt a DPM. If it is, these turkeys have no place starting a shooting war...

Sure looks like it, don't it?

Of course they're not ready for a shooting war. Apparently, they keep getting caught in the kelp when storming the beaches.

Maybe they're practicing by yelling 'BAM BAM BAM' like we've seen some of the (Malian?) Central African 'armies' do so. You've really got no place in a shooting war if you've got no ammunition.

Because they're laser guns. Duh!

It's been done before. The Star Wars laser blasters were Army surplus sten guns with some bits glued on.

Mine:

A good pair of books, although occasionally feels like a précis of U-Boat log books.

Agreed. The fact that he goes through and cites the events surrounding the loss of damn near every U-boat (x700) does make for a certain formulaic repetition.

Still, I'd never appreciated just how bloody devastating western approaches airborne ASW (particularly the 'heavies') were on the U-boat populations. USAAF and RAF aerial ASW were killers. I'm in mid-summer 1943 and the U-boats are losing 50-60% of all sortieing submarines in some TOOs. Eye-watering losses for the Kriegsmarine.

It's one of those lesser known parts of the war. Mostly because Harris didn't want to lose the heavies from their main role of bombing Germany. A few squadrons were detached for short periods but mostly Coastal Command got the stuff that Main Force didn't want. I don't know what the stats are for detached BC squadrons, but 61 was credited with a uboat kill on their first sortie.

Er, the guys at the far back seem to be using PPSh's, so why not DP's?

Please send it away. And don't mention her bush, that will probably be some tangled undergrowth.

I
The great leader actually invented the first practical laser whilst inventing the internet. He is recognised as the inventor after the iranian laser was found to be one of those sparking buck rogers toy guns frm the 70s.

Well, they were OK, I don't know as I'd go THAT far in describing them. They were just stamped metal, dude.

Hurhur, phunny... The Imperial Stormtrooper blaster rifles were based on the British Sterling SMG, not the Sten.

...that looks like an awefully awkward (say that three times fast!) way to brace the butt of those things...can anyone say "carpal tunnel"? ...or maybe they've all been genetically engineered to be double jointed...

BTW, that's not kimchi on her shoulders, is it?

Everyone keeps looking at the second gun. Check out the 3rd. It looks the bipod has collapsed and the barrel is in the berm.

Finally back from Hendon, they've got some very nice aeroplanes there. The only Defiant in the world, the only original Halifax, a Hudson, two seat FW190, a pair of Bf109s, Bf110 and Ju88 nightfighters. Also a Heinkel 111 that was 'acquired' from a USAAF unit, Sunderland flying boat, Me262 and Meteor, Vulcan, RAF Liberator.

There's a few that I'd like to see on BBMF, like a Mosquito, Beaufighter, Bf109, Bf110 and Blenheim.

The last time I was at Hendon , back in 2005 (my 8th or 9th visit) they had just pulled the Halifax out of the Zudier Zee , and they were'nt going to restore it, but leave it as a wreck-memorial. (LIke they did with the Gladiator they had). Did they restore her?

Did you go by Tube? I only ask , because if I recall it's actually at Colningsdale not Hendon (as I found to my misfortune the 1st two trips) but the great thing about the tube stop is a truly magnificent model (hobby) shop. I forget the name, but it began with an "H". Did you visit it?
