Oh, and Andre...it would appear you're in for a case of beer..had an FC Stone outlook meeting yesterday...$4.00 CZ13 means I am smoking something apparently..

Well, that and the fact that the CZ Dec13 futures are trading for circa $5.00 today. Crop's burnin' up out there too...

You must have a 2-day delay quote system.. it closed at 480.6... no wonder you took me up on it And since you took me up on the bet, Dec corn has been up almost every day haha

I didn't follow the 'feed' today. Yesterday and the day previous it was on either side of the $5.00 line.

You know what they say, Jeff-buy low and sell high.

Hope you locked in some long-term contracts for the $4.50 range-likely to the low for a while, I reckon.

Anything else interesting at the FC meeting?

They told us there isn't anything planted in N Iowa and on into S Minnesota.. it was too wet to get in.

Drove around Northern Iowa a bit in July. Lots of fields fallow. I suspect they'll have a light crop. SE Minnesota very very wet. They did get a crop in, but it was late. It'll be down to the wire to see if they can get their 90-day corn out before a killing frost. They've had really good yields lately and have been largely spared from the droughts affecting the balance of the Midwest. Lots of corn up here, but it's about 3 weeks behind schedule due to the late planting.

quote:

They said of all the things, wheat will disconnect from corn and skyrocket, as we'll have a shortage of wheat before we get to next years harvest. Very little carryout, which I agree with them on.

Why the wheat shortage, Jeff? Is it because NoDak's cousins are all planting corn in preference? Canadian drought?

Joined the Matrix Fantasy Football Pro league to help to fill it out. I'm now in both the basic and pro leagues as (to no ones surprise) Float Fighters and Float Fighters II.

So, I decided to audition for the local play in town this fall through the college.

I have never done this before, and wanted to try something new. I don't mind getting up in front of people or talking in front of audiences at all..

The play is A Night of Broadway.

I talked to the head chick...

I told her I can't sing or dance that I'm aware of and was only interested in a non-singing and dancing part. She said they need lots of narrators so come on out and give it a shot.

I talk for a living and figured the worst thing they can say is no.

Wish me luck?

What it's not saying is that they were finishing off a cripple. She could not launch planes , as the KB had wiped out the Eastern fleet. It's amazing where the KB can go when you've got unlimited forward deployed fuel (as in scenario 2...what we are playing).

Just had a turn in July 1945 where Japan lost 70 planes and the allies lost 210. Good day for the Empire's air wings. 31 new aces.

Well, that's hardly accurate. They do get some bonuses. The fact that they were operating (fueling) off of captured fuel from Palembang, Batavia and / or Singapore means that the pre-positioned fuel stores (mostly Truk really) were not germane in this case. So there.

ETA: Also, the KB didn't wipe out the RN until after Indomitable was sunk. Her demise facilitated their subsequent annihlation.
[/quote

That's not the way I recall it. Indomitable was with her sisters. I'd never send out one CV and one DD . Unless she was a cripple or trying to escape a group of cripples. She was damaged, unable to launch aircraft , and running for her life. Only one DD was undamaged. Now the BB's you caught and sank later. Old BB's are good for shelling bases and using for target practice. Especially after you killed their aircover and could not run fast enough.

A lot of F6F-5s, I remember them being on the top of the list. I will post details when I go home at lunch. I was very happy with the results.

Yeah, I can't move anything by water anymore, but he is paying for it and I still hold mainland Asia from Burma to Manchuko. At least until next month when the Russians activate... Sigh...

Nashvillen, et. al,

Some clarification may be in order to avoid misinterpretations.

This carrier was damaged the previous day in an exchange with KB. She (and escort Nestor) were trying to make for safety when she was put under by my two DDs. Hence the daytime intercept.

No good player (and Steve is certainly a very good player ) worth their salt would have a single DD as escort to a CVTF, excepting contingencies such as this when she was trying to make for safety and was flight inoperative.

After she was sunk, KB aggressively pursued the rest of the RN in the area. Indomitable's sinking meant the balance of the RN force was devoid of aircover. They were treated rudely hereafter. I don't think that Steve knew that I had KB operating in the area and KB was undetected by naval search assets in the area.

Apologies to Steve for aspects of my previous post that came off as 'crowing'. He's a good player and a good friend and I didn't mean to suggest to any readers of the THREAD that his loss of Indomitable was due to a rookie / stupid mistake.

For additional context: We are playing scenario 2, which provides the IJ some considerable advantages-this is an important caveat in interpreting the status of the game and our competition too. If anyone here is considering playing Steve, I'd recommend him very strongly. Heck, I think I've played him in something like 3 CGs and a couple of scenarios.

Anyways, 'nuff said for additional context. WRT the (admittedly out of context) intercept cut and pasted above: it was pretty sweet though, wasn't it?

I didn't take it as poor play by Steve. I took it as a great opportunity was taken by a couple of aggressive DD captains!

I also figured that since only one torp hit, she was already damaged and one more ventilation to the sea below the waterline was all was needed or a lucky critical of some kind. That much shelling by DD weapons shouldn't sink a large carrier like that.

Sorry if there was confusion on this.
