So, let it be. I didn't mean that such conflicts must be solved only in favor of peace. It depends on diplomatic relations between empires.

Besides people who abuse "birbery and pirate knocking" as a game exploit to shift territory instead of people like us who like to roleplay are only their own enemy of fun. I will have enough fun in this game wiht or without certain features - though I'd like to turn them off - in comparison to people who like to give in to temptation in despair or greed.

Play how you like.

What I like is having borders mean something. I can hold myself back from declaring war to grab territory, without really going to war with the established colonies..., but the computer won't. Then we are right back to ROTS without borders. (Oh, except we have pretty colours on the screen.) Yuk!

Okay I exaggerate a little but what is a couple of points of reputation and a little relations penalty for a while. Next to nothing.

I hear they've implemented it for 1703, just hope there's a checkbox so that I can turn it off. Undoing all the good work they are.

They implemented the "at war" possibility. Meaning a race at war with you will actively damage your territory by military or defended civil approaches (colonizing your sphere). That is not wrong. Isreal did that with it's neighbours and in old times many folks did so with their neighbours.

The thing you have to consider Feelo is: They can't and won't do that in peace! One more reason to wisely decide when and how long to go to war. Therefore I accept and value this feature. If they make it possible at all times in peace THEN I am on your side.

It would be better for me if developers had added a checkbox which turn off the border system entirely
Sadly, that this feature can't be modded

Yes but when they go to war with me? No I don't like it. They should have to make war on my established colonies and not just steal my territory. That's the game I want.

I take it you didn't play ROTS because this was actually the case in that game much to many peoples distaste. That's why we ended up with spheres of influence... looks to me that we've just lost them again. Declaring war is trivial - couple of points of reputation and a temporary relations hit with your enemy, pah, it's nothing. Pretty well we have lost the sphere of influence.

The AI does NOT think like a GREEDY EXPLOITING HUMAN. Elliots people will not do that until they HATE you or really want that Loros Fruit of yours!

You are very, very wrong. How could I win in Creature Contest, if don't played a lot?
Declaring war is far from trivial. Your empire reputation is not affected much, yes. But relations with your enemy fall heavily and its restoring takes a lot of time (in my games it's nearly impossible, we always begin another war , maybe, it happens because I choose high level of aggression in game setup ) and maybe a lot of money and technologies.
What I want to say... I want to say that if I try to settle in enemy territory AT PEACE I damage my relations with neighbor and show other empire what I sneaky and unreliable. It would be wonderful that this effects were permanent and heavily.

If they don't do it neither will I. Sad to say that a computer program is my moral exemplar.

If it's Loros Fruit they are after, that's a different matter. There will be a colony of mine waiting there for them.

You'll have to tell me WiZz - how much time and effort will the computer be spending trying to improve its relations with me after they have declared war and stolen my territory? And how much effect will it have? That is why its trivial. The computer loses a couple of points of reputation for declaring war and nothing else.

I guess I have to hope Nedrear is right but I don't imagine he is. The computer does get sneaky and engage in long term planning so I think it will do this to me sooner or later.

Well I think I have to use another house rule for this exploit. This rule change does the A.I no favours.

I haven't seen yet how AI declares war and steals my planets. I think, it will not try to make peace with me. And this thing is annoying me because only human can use this feature properly.
