But the biggest mystery of all - how could Nicolas Bendtner have possibly scored a goal in such a tournament?

I think we should be told....

A really bad match. The Portuguese deserved more methinks

If Spain play this way in the final, they won't lift the trophy. Or yes?

P.S.: overall, the prima donna has failed once again so fair enough Just when Fabregas scored the camera showed Ronaldo's face. He was looking at the sky and saying er *something* Perhaps threatening god himself because, he, the richest and most handsome guy won't lift the trophy? Mwhahahahahahahahaha!

It was a labour of love listening to that. Semi-Final nerves I guess. Both sides too afraid to lose?

So Spain triumphed eventually as predicted by almost everyone, but did so on penalties and so nil points all round I believe from last night and no change to the scoreboard.

Who will Spain meet in the final? The smart money is on Deutschland, but Italy have a decent record against Germany in major tournaments......

Portugal played well, they stifled Spain for much of the match without being negative themselves. Spain do not seem to be firing on all cylinders though and fact was, this was Ronaldo's chance to be the difference and make a tournament his own. He fluffed his lines - especially with that miss near the end when Portugal had a chance for a goal on the counter.

I feel very sorry for the Portugese - how many semi-final failures now?

Hi all,

Incredibly and against all predictions Italy won against Germany...

Final is between Spain (current World Champion and current European Champion) and Italy!

Croatia was unfortunate to be in same group with both Spain and Italy... darn... and Croatia wasn't that far away in both games (with both Italy and Spain)...

WTF???

Here is your statement from the 8th June:

quote:

My prediction is Netherlands or Germany. In that order

The other strong squads that could win: Spain, Italy, England, France (hmmm).

But something has to be said about the Euros: surprises are really possible. That's what we saw many times: for example Greece and Denmark won it.

And now why am I NOT counting the favourites (Spain)? Because of three factors. 1) they already won a lot, and people get tired of that, yes, it happens ; 2) the bad relations between the Barça and Real Madrid players (club utter rivalry); 3) the economic crisis (the morale variable is important on my book, yes, even if the players drive Porsches and Ferraris)

Which also means I don't see the Italians winnning it: the recent football corruption scandals show something is really rotten...
Oh, someone said -I can't remember- beware with RUSSIA!

Given the above, are you seriously saying you guessed the Italians??

Goodness!!

No mate, I am talking about the concrete prediction for the Italy - Germany match (aka post number 782)

quote:

ORIGINAL: TulliusDetritus

And my last prediction. Now I am convinced that the Italians are going to trash the Germans. I also think the Portuguese have NO chance at all vs Spain.

and blah bla blah

I know I know, the Netherlands were supposed to win the Euros

I want the Italians to win, watching Spain (a) bores me and (b) annoys me when people state that it is how football should be played.

In fact I want them to win so much that I'm going to back them against what I think will happen.

Spain 0 - Italy 1

I would like the Italians too but presumably the Spanish will play properly at some point?

I will plump for Spain 2 - 1 Italy.

To me it's 50%-50%

I only want one thing: Pirlo, Xavi and Iniesta to play at 100%

Gents can I have your predictions for the final before kick-off tomorrow please?

Only two peeps can still win - Dixie if he gets the score and result right (and redcoat fails to score) will mean we have joint winners. That being the case, all redcoat has to do is match Dixie's prediction and he can't lose. Because of that, do you both want to PM me with your predictions separately and I will only post after I have received both? Dixie I know you have posted already, so you can change given the above. Entirely up to you guys.

Really? The USA were not allowed in Euro 2012? That's outrageous...I'd get on to the president.

Just thought I'd bump this to the top as I appear to have a number of forecasts missing - maybe with just two left that can win it, there is a degree of "can't be bothered".

If so, then fair enough, but if you do want to make your last guess then please feel free.

My prediction is either side could win or a draw/penalties.

I was going to go for Spain 0-1 Italy, but Dixie has already swooped in for that. It would be unsporting of me to park the bus at this stage, so I’ll go for Spain 1-0 Italy. I won't be surprised if it goes to penalties.

Hoping for an exciting final.
If both teams don't come up with the finals nerves then we should see a good match. Italy with a strong defense and a quick offensive pair, Spain with it's typical ball control quick short passes to move across the pitch and hopfully a few players who will decide to let a few shots off on goal.

It is a 50:50 game as the trainer of Spain said, but then again what should he say prior to the finals?

I predict a win for the better team!

Hoping it will be Italy.

I guess 2:1 for Italy.

Mat

I thought this Spanish team was "boring"...

LOL

The thing is IF the midfielders are at 100% it IS a joy to watch... er, just like today (Xavi & Iniesta). The passes they are making are simply amazing...

Oh yes, that's the "boring" part... It's much more "exciting" to give the ball to your opponent after 2 or 3 passes (speculative crosses)...

That's why both the Italians and Germans are trying to KEEP the ball as well...

Sadly, Pirlo hasn't appeared yet. Italy needs him
