Warspite, is this guy any good?
Not that I follow the 'Fins.

Miami Dolphins Executive Vice President of Football Operations Mike Tannenbaum announced today that Wayne Diesel has been named sports performance director

In his role, Diesel will oversee all of the team’s sports science initiatives and will work closely with the training and strength and conditioning departments. His focus will include player injury prevention and rehabilitation in an effort to reach optimal performance.

Diesel joins the Dolphins after spending the previous eight years (2007-15) as head of medical services with the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club of the English Premier League. With Tottenham, he oversaw the efforts of doctors, physiotherapists, sports scientists, podiatrists, nutritionists and chiropractors, and helped coordinate the medical service department’s work to optimize player recovery and prevent injuries. During his tenure with the Spurs, they defeated Chelsea FC in 2008 to win the Carling Cup and then achieved Champions League status in 2009-10 for the first time in the club’s history.

Never heard of him!! I've heard of his brother Vin though.

Seriously I've not heard his name before - although backroom staff are not normally well known in English football.

I hope he does a good job for you .

I hope he understands that American football players use their upper body a lot more than soccer players.
Vin Diesel would be a good pick, too
warspite1

Mmmm soccer players seem to prefer other areas of the body (if you believe the tabloids). Another one arrested tonight for alleged underage-how's your-father

Agreed - but I don't see what the problem is; AIK are well and truly in the lead in the Swedish top division!

The regular season has yet to begin. But the Swedish Cup is running and the referee cost us the advancement.

Question:

If the above is in alphabetical order, why is Atvidabergs FF second from bottom?

Because the Swedish name is Åtvidabergs FF and Å is towards the end of the Swedish alphabet.

“PSG deserved to win,” said Mourinho. “When a team cannot defend two corners, and concedes twice, that team doesn’t deserve to win. When a team cannot cope with the pressure of being with one player more playing at home, and the stadium doesn’t accept the team has to control the game and want them to go on and win it… we couldn’t cope with that pressure. For them it was easy: 10 men, defensive organisation, two lines of four, long balls for the counter-attack, waiting for free-kicks and corners. Mentally, for them, they had nothing to lose. They were experienced, they were good, and they deserved it.

So, in a nutshell:

1) it is their (my players') fault
2) it is NOT my fault
3) they scored TWICE in your stadium, in your own den, Mourinho
4) so after all, two lines defending (forget the attacks) is easy eh?
5) it is NOT my fault
...
xx) er... did I mention that it is NOT my fault?

This is a gem. In fact it is a nasty depth charge! "And the stadium doesn’t accept the team has to control the game and want them to go on and win it". He is attacking the FANS here. The people who PAY his bread and butter. Yes, the Russian Oligarch puts the money. But NO fans in the stadium = No Russian Oligarch = NO Mourinho. What's he saying here? He is saying the FANS forced his team / players to make mistakes?

xyzt) in case someone missed it, it is NOT my fault!

This clown is a caricature. The sooner he disappears the better.

I was merely passing comment on the fact that you were quiet while Mourinho was winning the Premier League....

...but when Mourinho loses to PSG - eh voila!

I can understand that Mr M is disappointed in his players. Playing with one man more for an entire match and they concede two goals.

I think that Mr M would have been happy just defending and counter striking and that he meant that the players felt the home pressure and attacked more than he would have liked.

Doesn't Mr M usually take the blame for when his team has lost and defend the players?

To be honest, I have never seen Mr M saying "it's MY fault". The closest thing might be: "it's my fault... because I trusted the players and they failed me" Really, if you can provide a source where he clearly states that it's his fault and only his fault, I am all ears.

Such a classless specimen!

I think he usually blames everyone but himself and the players. I could be wrong here since I am usually to annoyed to listen to him. I have a vague memory of him taking the blame for when his players underperformed badly but I am to lazy to search for such a quote. I do think that it is very rare that he blames his players. I could, of course, be wrong.

There are two things to consider here.

1) many journalists, other coaches said that he bashes/ed the referees, other coaches, fans, football authorities in general (UEFA) to PROTECT his team. How is he protecting them? Well, everyone is paying attention to his antics, lunacies, therefore they don't attack the team. This could be true, a rational decision he's taken, I won't dispute it.

But then there is the second thing to consider:

2) you still have to find the moment when he said (after a defeat, trashing, humiliation) "it's my fault and only my fault". Believe me, you're trying to find the Fountain of Youth or El Dorado for that matter. It's never his fault

And he has blamed his players MANY MANY times. That is a myth (him not bashing his players after a defeat) In fact he did exactly that when the last trashing. As per his own words cited by me (source The Guardian).

Oh noooo

I was going to share something I had found 3 or 4 years ago (and followed more or less regularly) but looks like Twitter annihilated that account!

I guess you have to know that there are fake celebrities twitter accounts. Parodies of course. The thing is some of them are really funny. I mean, no 14 years old behind the whole thing.

The Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa was the target of one of those parodies. Even real footballers interacted and mentioned the troll (or fake Kagawa that is). Rio Ferdinand was one of them.

But then I have just noticed that Twitter has terminated that "joke". A lot of swearing and "Engrish" but good laughs overall

Evil Kagawa @evilkagawa
I leave six people locked in cellar in Manchester, I no go back. This what Kagawa do. This parody. I watch you!

Play-A-Making!

Good luck to all the British teams in action over the weekend - particularly to Wales and Northern Ireland who face tough tests against Israel and Finland respectively.

Big, big games for these two - if they can manage to win then both countries can make a big stride toward qualification for Euro 2016; Wales have only qualified for one major championship - the 1958 World Cup! while Northern Ireland - although they have been a bit more successful in World Cup qualification (three I think) they have never appeared at the European Championship finals.

Good luck to both!!

Thanks Warspite, and what a performance!

3-0 and could have been 6.

As a Cardiff City season ticket holder, a Wales fan and a Glamorgan cricket fan, I can tell you that supporting has been hard. But I stick with them, and when, lik etonight, it works it is marvellous!!

Hopefully more of the same from Northern Ireland too .

You get the feeling that Wales really need to take this opportunity. Over the years they have had some pretty decent players but have always fallen short - been unlucky too, I remember World Cup qualification for Argentina 1978 and the game against Scotland

Be great to see them in a major finals.

Well done to all the British teams at the weekend - Northern Ireland almost matched the Welsh performance!!

A very real chance that these two can join England in the finals next year. For Scotland the task is a little harder - but they are by no means out of it.
