Turn 77, 3rd december 1942

Focus on the southern part of the front.
- Kertch is almost reached
- my Pzd failed to progress along the Black Sea. I will wait for Inf divs
- My mountain units climb ont the the Caucasus mountains. most russians units here have an "isolated" status

Still 42 VP to get!!

Turn 78, 10th december 1942

Great news! German troops cross the Volga with 2 objectives:
- taking Engels
- cutting the north/South rail

The Volga is also crossed South of Stalingrad

In the South I continue to climb the Caucasus mountains

And my plans for Crimea. Yes, I know, it's very simple..

well you've done an immense amount of damage, but it'll be interesting to see if you can nurse your rather depleted army to a final victory

significant progress, yeah, but on the most unimportant fronts.
OTOH, he is struggling now to get more manpower on the map, as his remaining units should have filled out by now.
Probably I'm wrong, but I still think you should have gone after his Army and not for space.

I thought about it at the end of summer 1942.

Should I have gone north to fight for Penza or Moscow?

It would have given him at least 2 turns quiet and on the other side his army South of the Don was already broken. I had only to harvest.

And I destroyed lots of units. I will post it soon.

If he does it right. he'll put three rifle corps loaded with sappers in Baku and you'll never dig him out of there. The city is loaded with PVO AA regiments and will maul any air attack. So if you want to complete the conquest of the Caucasus, plan with that in mind.

Without HQ? The penalty are heavy...
And I don"t think he will have enough time to reach level 5 forts

When you get there...make sure to burn down the hockey stadium in Sochi!

Super fun AAR, I hope the Red Army does not throw in the towel.

Btw, how many trucks do you have left?

I will! Even if, as french, I was supporting the Canadians

Last summer I was on holidays in Lake Placid, it's a great US place for hockey

That is why I was asking about your trucks figures before!

I am puzzled that an offensive into the Caucasus, in the middle of Winter ..does use up all your tanks, but not your trucks? Surely all those French trucks captured in 1940 were totally awesome but this seems excessive (not your fault at all mind me).

The logistics engine of WITE is a bit of err...a mistery to me. So, if it is not too much trouble I was wondering if you had quarterly trucks figures for the past year that I could post in the developers forum as an example and draw their attention to the fact that truck attrition may be underestimated (mostly for WITW and WITE2).

I just sent my turn and forgot to print my trucks...

I think there should also be a relation between supply and distance. If I've well undertood, if the rail isn't cut, it's the same price to bring a ton of supply to Minsk or to Saratov. It shouldn't be so.

And about french trucks and cars captured in 1940 (or built later by french factories ) they weren't adapted to russian country. French roads were (and still are ) far better than russians.

Very entertaining AAR. Your progress is incredible. You have taken a huge amount of territory and mauled your enemy.

That being said, I think you are in grave trouble. Your momentum was a key factor in keeping him off balance, but your front along the Volga hasn't moved much in a while, and now you are running out of steam. You are on the verge of mud season with vast thinly-defended flanks. He will have time to recover, regroup, and strike. You simply don't have the manpower to defend your entire perimeter. If he can attack south from Penza and break through, he threatens to roll up your entire Volga front while the lions share of your mobile units that could best contain the damage are in the far-away Caucasus.

I would love to see a screenshot of your entire front, from the Baltic to the Caspian.

Do you think anyone even knows where Baku is? The entire world doesn't care if we capture Baku or not.

well he would have said it in these circumstances
