Here is the Armys 20mm AA gun used in runway defense. Thanks to a TOE upgrade, they are quite numerous, if pretty ineffective.

Now that the Allies have created a pocket in Vietnam, will he look to collapse the pocket asap, or will he contain the pocket and move on east into Lang Son.

Hainan beckons, as does the coast and Formosa and Luzon.

What will the Allies do?

5 more months until 1945.

Pretty normal day. Lots of naval bombardments. My trap with the 1st Tank Division doesn't work, as the Allies bombard in Vietnam. No deliberate attacks worth mentioning anywhere.

Nagoya holding strong at 2600 AV, and the Allies rush a tank unit 1 hex north to cut the rails again. I bet he retreats with them on the morrow.

Kobe really gets bombed hard.

Lost an APD running supplies into Vietnam. I almost made it. I have 10 subs ferrying in supplies, plus planes.

The Katsuragi is off Formosa, and heading to Luzon.

Doing some Frank sweeps tomorrow, and trying to pick off a destroyer taskforce with my favorites the Lilly IIb.

Other than that pretty much normal day. Still holding below 2-1, if barely.

Here is my favorite IJA machine gun. Hopper fed.

I don't see the bayonet lug, but know it must be there.

Normal heavy bombardments by naval ships at Nagoya. 2000 raw losses per day is a good average. You think those guns and ships would start to fatigue a little, wouldn't you?

Kobe is bombed heavily, and other places not so much.

No deliberate attacks anywhere, even Hanoi, and most of our troops flee Hanoi for the Lang Son area.

A successful strike. However, nothing went down so I guess it is just wasted supply at this point.

Defense is taking shape, but nowhere strong enough, if the Allies push east with everything they have. Or will he move to destroy the Vietnam pocket? Or both?

The whole Chinese coast back to Shanghai is protected by at least a full division. Not much to tell the truth.

With the heavy bombing on Kobe today, and elsewhere, the Allies broach the 2-1 barrier with 2.003 VP ratio.

Well done! Japan has been whipped.

Can I survive five more months. Allies have amassed 47,758 strategic victory points.

Normal naval bombardments.

I have an excellently trained and experienced Judy squadron attack 5 Fletchers, yesterday less experienced Lilly IIc pilots attacked 4 Fletchers for 4 hits. No losses to Flak and they started their bombing run at 15K.

Today the D4Y4s all missed, and lost 6 to flak, despite attacking with more planes. They started their bombing run at 10K.

Allies shock attack and take Hanoi. The militia stand their ground, and we have 1000 AV protecting Lang Son now.

Allies have dropped some British mines at Quinhon, to stop my sub resupply of Vietnam.

Vietnam - If I was playing Allies, I would reduce the pocket here to free up troops for more invasions. Since he controls the seas now, he needs to take advantage of it.

My once potent block, overrun in a 4-1 attack by the Commonwealth. Oh for rice and bullets. And more AA.

Another invasion force off....shepherded by CVs. Nothing I can do...

More naval bombardments at Nagoya. Really starting to destroy support squads. I will pull out some of the really disabled support units, and I hope that doesn't let the BBs target the ground troops.

I have cranked out 20 Type 3 medium tanks, bringing the total to over 220. 7 were added to Nagoya's defenders yesterday. The 4th Tank Division activated yesterday, but with a scant 47 AV at Chiba. Can't afford to replace the tanks, and their starting morale is low, so they will rest for awhile and be added to the reserve.

Allies lose 19 planes to 1 Japanese, including 2 B29 and 2 Jugs. The Allies pick up 200+ vp thru ground losses and strategic bombing.

Over in Vietnam, the militia hold out against another shock attack. 1000 thousand supplies are making it into Canton today...not much, certainly not enough. I should have created a huge stockpile months ago in a big western city, now I have supplies but not in the right places.

The Crack 11th Division holds off an attack in Vietnam from superior forces.

The 2nd RTA Division is still blocking the Singers rail.

The militia is finally rooted out at Hanoi.

Allies lose 25 planes, 6 are 4es, to a dozen mostly Stellas for Japan.

I try to sneak a strong surface group in range to threaten Allied shipping, but they are spotted and hit by a 7 hex CV strike losing 2 Matsu destroyers, and one more will probably sink today.

None of my raids on the Allies go off...there is always tomorrow.

Bingo...we catch an Allied CL force without LRCAP. Achilles takes two; also score an 800kg SAP hit on the DD Daley. The AA is fierce!

It is a 9-10 ship TF with a couple of CLs and DDs. I lose 16 Myojo --9 to AA and 7 to ops out of 60 sorties. I do plant another 800 SAP in the afternoon, but recon reports good damage control and the heavy fires reduced to fires.

Hard to believe I survived this long. I get rocket artillery in Shanghai.

In a day or two I get some on Honshu. Straight to Osaka for them.

Nagoya is bombarded again, then bombed by every bomber.

The Allies have almost 7,000 AV in the hex. Japan at 2700. Allies are stronger everywhere else on Honshu.

Looks grim.

The crack 11th division is forced to retreat, a victim of concentrated heavy bombardments and bombing, and dwindling supply.

Well, this game may end very quickly after all given the 7000AV at Nagoya. Should they crush my defenders, and force a retreat, I won't be able to stop the Allies.

I have stripped every almost every base of AV to reinforce Nagoya...we shall see. I need good rolls and he needs bad. What is left of my front line fighters are flying LRCAP over Nagoya, and one lousy MTB is steaming out (all that is left available) while the Nagoya shipyards just finished a DD which will try to do some good before going down.

Daily ship bombardments by 75 ships is tough to weather...but the Allies concentrating 7000 AV! Without the x4 there would be no chance to hold, now I put the chance to hold at 20% if the Allies go all out.

With Nagoya, goes all of Eastern Honshu I fear. My troops simply cannot recover disablement fast enough.

After Nagoya the next obvious target would be Osaka. There the Allied plans start to unravel. Nagoya only needs around 360 AV garrison but Osaka needs over 1000. Sure he can depart and let the partisans wreck the base, but he needs good port facilities and airfields, and if the base is unoccupied it could flip back to IJA control. Then the supply and industry points it generates would no longer help the Allies.

Nagoya bombarded 7 BBs, 3 TF, then bombed by everything. The feeble LRCAP is swept aside easily by Allied fighters.

Then the shock attack.

A look at the Type 3 Medium Tank losses in Nagoya. The 1st Indpt Tank is a very small unit, and always loses a lot of tanks...I may retire them from the battle in favor of larger tank regiments.

BB, I don't see the downside for him, the Allies might not go for Osaka, but rather right along the coast to Yokohama.

Plus, I think the Allies have the AV to burn...really only two thrusts in this game. Honshu and Vietnam.

Reinforcing Nagoya with what I can...It probably takes a full month for a naval bombarded division to recover, but it only takes about 3 days for it to be shattered. I will be cycling thru the troops, and if the Allies had better tactics here it would be even uglier than it is.

Noticed Keijo in Korea got reconned...I have sent 100 front line fighters there to protect the last large vehicle plant. I need those Type 3 medium tanks!

Nagoya naval bombarded. Osaka bombed. More reinforcements arrive in Nagoya which suffers from an artillery bombardment only.

Allies marching up the coast road in Vietnam. Three BBs (QE, Valiant, and Richeleau)plus some cruisers bombarding. Lack of supplies dooming the defense.

RTA troops disbanded.

Today, several fresh divisions will rail into Nagoya.

I plan on rotating them, 1 day combined to absorb the brunt of the naval bombardments, and three days fragmented in thirds in reserve mode. Hopefully this will reduce the wear and tear from the Naval bombardments...plus give protection to all the 1/3rds of divisions and brigades and regiments.

Command prep looks like this: Army 80%, Corp 50%, Command 50%.
