A lone MTB causes much panic and many, many collisions.

NW of Kanoya....

And the Tone is already weakened, by the loss of a 20cm forward battery that has never been repaired. What an evil fate.

Argh!!! A torpedo hit...too many darn torpedoes for Bunji to dodge them all.

Several 20cm hits on the South Dakota...scratching the paint job.

10 collisions! And then more... How big was that convoy?

I got confused on AARs and momentarily thought this was a different Tone in a different place.

The action is fast and furious. Two PB are sunk by wandering Fletchers, and then Avengers sortie in surprisingly large numbers (18) against a SC TF.

Rexs' eat alive the unescorted Allied bombers! A little trap over the sub chasers attacked during the night.

A rare deep water kill...our toll on Allied subs is fearsome, but not without cost to our merchant fleet.

I had an air festung at Oita, about the only base that didn't get attacked on Western Honshu area.

The Tone had a great war. Her first Captain steamed her right into 3 torpedoes off Sabang, but we saved her.

Bunji took over and had several great deep raids off Perth, Karachi and the Pearl Harbor/West Coast convoy routes.

She was present at all major carrier battles, the early ones off Java, in the Kuriles during the early Allied invasions there and then the deadly fights off the Marianas and finally off Oz.

What a warrior! She will be remembered.

Hopefully, I remembered all that correctly. It may have been another CA that ate the three torpedoes, but it sounds good here. The important thing to remember is the Tone's original Captain is a downright lowly dog, fit to skipper a tug if that.

A picture of my Stella squadron.

Unfortunately, when I got the unit as a reinforcement I left them in the same base one day too long and the Allies destroyed 5 on the ground.

But, they are up and working. I need to find a coastal base for them to work out of. Perhaps along the western coastline of Korea.

They would be great working ASW in the Japanese Isles if the Allies weren't already there.

Are you totally out of DDs or is the single ship TF of the Tone a choice you made for other reasons?

Tone lost her destroyer escort the day before. I was trying to flank speed move her to Oita...probably should have sent her to Shanghai area. She might not have made it either, as I had several other ships caught by Fletchers doing that.

Not much left to strike back with at Honshu...my fighters are worn out and need down time. Most are sent to Korea to recover.

A few small traps set up, if I can avoid all the wandering Allied fleets. I think I can expect wandering Fletchers, Carrier sweeps aimed at destroying my rear area fighters so I had to take measures there too.

My two remaining battleships need time to get their system damage down, but the best I can get them into is a size 3 port.

Sending a lone MTB, all I have, out again hoping to penetrate a CVE task force.

It is bleak out there, and getting bleaker!

I recall the discussion many many pages back about the Lorna. Did you notice any difference in it's ASW abilities vs using single engine Kates or some other platform?

Some recent Lorna action:

Q1W1 Lorna from Sasebo Ku T-4 has spotted YMS-291 at 103,57
YMS-291 is reported HIT
Q1W1 Lorna from Sasebo Ku T-4 has spotted YMS-481 at 104,56

The Lorna isn't anything special, it might become good around June 1945 when their radar becomes active.

The B5N2 is single engine, radar and MAD capable on 6/44, plus has only one engine.

Lots of really fast blurbs about the naval guns firing in the straits of Tsushima, but we nail only this destroyer. The others no combat.

Oops, a few more CD gun hits.

But the Allies have landed. The B29s hit troops buildups at the other clear ground hexes in western Honshu.

I have forts four, and there are only 250 AFVs unloaded so far. Try to hold, or retreat back to better terrain...that is the 64 dollar question.

My oh my.
