I think the calculation would be something along the following lines.

1:2 would be 22:44. You have 17:44. That rounds down to 1:3. Since 1:3 is actually 14.667, you have 2.33 towards 1:2 (17-14.667). The gap between 1:3 and 1:2 is 22-14.6667 = 7.333. The fractional odds would be 2.333/5.333 = 0.318.

Long time since I last watched it.

Apart from THE scene, the only line I remember is Gene Wilde's "Look at that, steady as a rock....but I shoot with this hand". Close up of wildly trembing hand.

Okay, MWiF didn't allow any fractional roll and simply applied the -1 penalty for 1:3. This gave a net modifier of +1, whereas it should be +2. I've therefore manually input a 2 instead of the 1 Mayhemizer rolled to simulate the effect of the fractional roll. Losses are as below.

Having problems uploading the picture. The result was 2/-. Germany destroys Hamburg Mil and 1st Mot Div, leaving a disorganised X Inf in the hex.

Edit: Picture now loaded.

There will be no action by Western Allies this evening. The impossibility for US to transport convouys from USA to CW on US resources even though it should be allowed takes to much time trying to fix, or alternatively to get around.

So gents how widespread do we think the fractional odds problem is? Is the game consistently getting the calculation wrong?

What is the problem there? Does it not work correctly for odds < 1:1 ?

Looks like fractional odds are wrong when odds are lower than 1:1. I don't remember any problems with higher odds.

No declarations of war.

Land: China
Combined: USSR, USA, CW
Naval: France

No Port Strikes. No naval air.

USA send out 5 CPs between US and UK.

CW send one CP to the Eastern Mediterranean and two more to the Atlantic. France also send one convoy point to the Atlantic.

Edit: CW and France can activate combat in three sea areas but decline in all three. Axis can not activate in any sea area at all.

A British bomber stationed in Morocco bombs Madrid for no effect. The bomber then land in Bilbao.

M/A 41 Axis 13

No DoW or alignments.

Germany land, Italy naval, Japan combined.

Japan moves Inf from Osaka to Hanoi and a sub to Truk.

Italy sends a BB and CP to Italian Coast. Do the Allies wish to intercept?

The French sub successfully intercepts the Italian ships (4 rolled). The Italians decide to stay put in the 0-box.

An Italian CA also moves into the Italian Coast. Does the sub wish to intercept this one?

Another 4 sees the cruiser intercepted. It decides to stay in the 4-box.

Finally, the remaining battleship heads out. Another attempt?

This time the intercept fails on an 8. The BB continues to the East Med. I decide the Allies will probably decline this one and stop the BB in the 3-box.

Four areas for naval combat but Italy will decline the Italian Coast.

First up, Cape St Vincent.

The Italian sub begins searching. No additional air is added by the Axis. CW can add the Harrow up to the 1-box. Does it join the defence?

Searches: Axis 1, Allies 2. Both sides find each other.

The Axis elect for naval air and add the Me-110 as a bomber. Two surprise points are used to reduce AA to lowest 1 of 4. Rolls of 10, 4, 4, 6 make the Axis think they should have saved the surprise points. Isn't hindsight wonderful. Two air factors are left, giving a D, which goes on Dunkerque. A good bit of ship driving sees her heading to port relatively unscathed.

Axis continue. Allies?
