Germany rails Berlin MIL to Gibraltar.

Does Japan want to do any rail moves?

Japan makes a couple of minor moves in the North China front and brings a TERR in Manchuria closer to the capital.

Italy moves 2 units in Algeria to the coast.

Japan invades island east of Surabaya, adding 3 points shore bombardment.

Germany attacks Bilbao. Current odds 15:20 +1. CW can fly the Wellesley for 1 point of support. If they do, where should it land?

Interesting perspective Courtenay, thank you. I think that could have application in certain, more complex air combats and I will try to remember that.

But as the Axis had no Fighters at all, wouldn't this apply:

If a side starts a round with no fighters, all opposing bombers are immediately cleared through to the target.

Yes, and that's exactly what you want. You want to protect your bomber from the AA of the fleet (and make sure it delivers his bombs). If your opponent gets lucky, he can abort your bomber if it is alone. If that happens with a second plane present, you abort the plane flying as a bomber and your heavy bomber gets through to attack the ships...

Any possibility of HQ support?

No air support and CW select assault.

At 15:20, the fractional odds roll should be .5 (5/10).

Which two units do Germany choose to lose? I presume the Allies will choose the Spanish Infantry?

Not the most tactical of times to have rolled a 10. Could have done with the last two rolls swapped around.

Ouch. Yes please.

Ouch? You could have taken three losses. And considering all the low odds attacks it would be about time as well.

OUCH! When Germany attacks, I expect flawless victory

And this attack was against Spanish unit and disorganized CW unit. How hard can it be? They barely understand each others...

Germany rebases 2 fighters from Germany to France and one fighter by few hexes in East Prussia.

Germany uses 4 HQs in Spain to reorganize 7 land units in northern Spain, 3 land units in Gibraltar, FTR2 and FTR3 in southern Spain.

Back to Allies.

They have fought together in this area since Napoleon.

Except in the combat in question, the Axis had 2 NAVs and no FTR, nor any ships or subs. The Allies had 2 FTRs and 2 carrier planes. Using the carrier planes as bombers in an attempt to absorb air combat losses as Courtenay suggested would not work as the bombers would just be cleared through before the first round of air combat.

Allies rolled 19 and that means a destroyed Italian naval bomber, including the pilot. But if I recall correctly Italy has 2 BPs that needs to be compensated. If this is correct should I change the result to a 3 instead of a 19 and thereby save the pilot?

Edit: A 15 rolled by Axis and 'no effect' on the CW fighter.

Edit 2: CW will remain in the sea area. Will Italy stay as well? I will post a summary of the air battle tomorrow. Have a good night.

CW search in the West Med.

Will Germany, or Italy, ad any aircraft to the West Med?
