Hey SJ, still full of fight? I see you are trying hard to catch-up to the current game date which must be well into 1944 by now. How about a few maps?

Hello there LST. Yes still plenty of fight going on. Surprising in a way since I have been running the Empire on the smell of an oily rag for way too long. We are currently moving into July '44.

Yes trying very hard to catch up... so much has happened in game. Not sure where the motivation has come from to get back into the AAR but it is here. Would love to post maps etc but as I am so far behind I will not have any until I catch up to January '44. So you will have to make do with your imagination.

So on with a few more days and lots of action ahead.

In lieu of nice maps you shall have to employ your imagination. The American carrier fleet basically did an anti clockwise tour around the Marians Island chain. I had a number of task forces attempting an intercept. This one came off but was foiled by American radar and the inherent speed of a carrier task force. What a mighty grouping of carriers. I was surprised to see the task force over and above 15 ships.

Apologies but I must of forgotten to keep a copy of the reports for this day. At least nothing hugely important happened on this day... at least that I can recall.

Well this next one was interesting and not a little heart in mouth. I knew there was a surface action group off to the east of Saipan. For reasons I no longer remeber I got it into my head that they were moving off to the east. I had a carrier task force scooting down from Japan and nicely placed to the north. I decided to move them further south with the intention of the strike planes making good attacks on surface ships no longer supported by carriers. The number of American strike aircraft downed above Tinian and Saipan meant that I was not fearing a return of the American carriers until they had replinshed their strik aircraft. Unfortunelatley I was too eager to get a result. I did get a rollicking surface action though!

I send my submarines off to the vicinity of Eniwetok in the hope of catching some damaged cruisers. We find plenty of Allied surface activity underway in various places.

A grim day at the Marianas. The Americans have returned... To Tinian!!!! This time around they find the defences are somewhat more stout but what a land force they have landed to contest the beaches this time. Elsewhere I mess up with my orders and allow my carriers to wander outside the protection of land based air cover. Mundy's carriers make the most of this opportunity and I have to say a regretful goodbye to a big portion of my remaining effective carrier strength.
