Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 3 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 4 disabled Allied ground losses: 19 casualties reported Squads: 0 destroyed, 1 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled Guns lost 2 (1 destroyed, 1 disabled) Assaulting units: 2nd Area Army 3rd Division 4th Division 53rd Division 54th Division 2nd RF Gun Battalion 5th RF Gun Battalion Defending units: this is a powerful stack based around the well trained 6th and 9th Aus Divs. The IJA plan may need to be revised to pocket this force, reduce their supply to zero then grind them down. This is a big force to try and clear from a base hex in Jungle terrain, but GEN Hata will move forward from Imphal to conduct a personal inspection. I Australian Corps 6th Australian Division 9th Australian Division I Aus Corps Engineer Battalion 2/13th Field Regiment 7th Indian Division 50th Tank Brigade 23rd Indian Mountain Gun Regiment -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at 60,38 (near Silchar) Japanese Deliberate attack Attacking force 119105 troops, 1136 guns, 381 vehicles, Assault Value = 4212 – raw AV after the battle is 3801. Defending force 23299 troops, 443 guns, 377 vehicles, Assault Value = 908 – based on the squad disablements below, the raw AV after the battle should be <600. That means the ratio moves from about 4:1 to 6:1ish. There is a decent chance that if the allies stay here without reinforcement, the next deliberate attack will get a 2:1 result for the IJA. Japanese adjusted assault: 2047 Allied adjusted defense: 1459 Japanese assault odds: 1 to 1 Combat modifiers Defender: terrain(+), experience(-) Attacker: Japanese ground losses: 5404 casualties reported Squads: 21 destroyed, 474 disabled - 10th Div took the most casualties but is still at 80% TOE. All other Divs are in good order. Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 45 disabled Engineers: 1 destroyed, 54 disabled Allied ground losses: 3026 casualties reported Squads: 49 destroyed, 318 disabled Non Combat: 36 destroyed, 49 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 20 disabled Guns lost 138 (8 destroyed, 130 disabled) – lots of guns disabled. This should help reduce the effectiveness of the next defence. Units destroyed 1 Assaulting units: Korea Army 2nd Army 1st Division 6th Division 8th Division 9th Division 10th Division - Infantry squads are at (132) damaged, 183 ready, so 10th Div will switch to Reserve mode 12th Division 14th Division 17th Division 56th Division Defending units: 40th Infantry Division – 40th Div took some decent damage 16/5th Mahratta Battalion – likely destroyed as it was zeroed 23rd Indian Division 16th British Brigade 23rd British Brigade 25th Indian Mountain Gun Regiment 26th Indian Mountain Gun Regiment OPERATIONAL REPORT FOR Feb 25, 43 Task Force 249 lays defensive minefield at Wake Island ( 136 , 98) and sets course for Truk 2LT Kabase W. of 11th Sentai is credited with kill number 6 2LT Shiromoto, N. of 11th Sentai is credited with kill number 11 2LT Kikuchi E. of 11th Sentai is credited with kill number 5 2LT Kikuchi E. of 11th Sentai attains ace status!! 2LT Kikuchi E. of 11th Sentai is credited with kill number 6 7 x Ki-57-II Topsy transporting 18th JNAF AF Unit to Munda Babeldaob expands fortifications to size 2 Port Moresby expands fortifications to size 3 Kanoya expands fortifications to size 3 23rd Division - some devices have been upgraded at Jehol Pilot Kimiyama H. is reported as to have escaped capture – an IJAAF fighter pilot with about 60 experience. 12th Base Force's TOE was upgraded to IJN Base Force at Kendari – by HQ Southern Army at Davao Loss of TK Amatsu Maru on Feb 25, 1943 is admitted
