I just noticed that the 18th JNAFU at Munda is missing its radar. It is back at Shortlands with 2x searchlights and 29x support squads. Munda has a level 2 port now so I will try and fast transport them forward to help with raid detection, but that will take about a week to do. Estimated time to target is 15 minutes A6M5 Zero x 63 A6M5c Zero x 8 N1K1-J George x 12 A6M5 Zero: 1 destroyed A6M5c Zero: 1 destroyed Allied aircraft F4U-1 Corsair x 18 F4U-1 Corsair: 2 destroyed CAP engaged: 251 Ku S-1 with A6M5 Zero (6 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling) Group patrol altitude is 20000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 20000. These altitude settings are giving the Corsair the dive. I checked manoeuvre bands and all of these aircraft seem to have the same manoeuvre rating from 0 to 20, so layered CAP <10 probably won’t be much different to layered CAP <20. Just to try something different I have ordered the layers to 5, 7 and 9k tomorrow. 6th Ku S-1/A with A6M5 Zero (0 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling) Group patrol altitude is 20000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 20000. 201 Ku S-1 with N1K1-J George (12 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling) Group patrol altitude is 21000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 21000. I set the George to 21k on the failed assumption that the allies would come in at 20k. 253 Ku S-1 with A6M5 Zero (0 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling) Group patrol altitude is 20000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 20000. Kaga-1 with A6M5 Zero (0 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling) – this might make the allies think that IJN CVs are nearby, or they may already know from SigInt that the CVs are back in Japan. Group patrol altitude is 16000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 16000. Shokaku-1 with A6M5c Zero (0 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling) Group patrol altitude is 20000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 20000. Zuikaku-1 with A6M5 Zero (0 airborne, 0 on standby, 0 scrambling) Group patrol altitude is 20000 , scrambling fighters between 0 and 20000. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on 44th Cavalry Engineer Regiment, at 57,38 , near Dacca – this is a clear hex one NE of Comilla. It would require an assault river crossing to enter except from the NE. Weather in hex: Moderate rain Ki-21-IIa Sally x 6 Ki-21-IIb Sally x 20 Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 6 Ki-49-IIa Helen x 3 Allied ground losses: 19 casualties reported Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 15 disabled Also attacking 84th Indian Brigade ... more enemy units identified via bomb camera. Also attacking 254th Armoured Brigade ... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on 44th Cavalry Engineer Regiment, at 57,38 , near Dacca Ki-21-IIa Sally x 12 Ki-21-IIa Sally: 2 damaged -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on 254th Armoured Brigade, at 57,38 , near Dacca Ki-21-IIa Sally x 14 Ki-21-IIb Sally x 13 Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 21 Ki-45 KAIa Nick x 26 Ki-49-IIa Helen x 17 Ki-49-IIa Helen: 5 damaged Allied ground losses: 29 casualties reported Squads: 0 destroyed, 1 disabled Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 6 disabled Also attacking 503rd Parachute Regiment ... another unit spotted. Usually paras don’t stand up well to tanks, so it would be good to get rid of this unit so it doesn’t try any long range airborne shenanigans into Burma. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on 84th Indian Brigade, at 57,38 , near Dacca Ki-49-IIa Helen x 14 Allied ground losses: 50 casualties reported Squads: 0 destroyed, 4 disabled Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 3 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 1 disabled -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on 6/9th Jat Battalion, at 61,36 , near Tezpur – IJA 19th Div and 21st Ind Mixed Bde are moving into this hex across the river. No sign of the allies moving to reinforce this unit from Tezpur, or withdrawing from the Jungle Rough hex on the Tezpur-Ledo road.
