Final Moscow

my best and clearly insufficient jaw pincer of the war.

8 hexes apart. a few more in the south flank would really have helped.

2 German inf div cut off

Only 3 more to mud, can i hold on.

far north .

Final

My units are left to rot.

Port still open.

I wish i could operate and really attack out of Leningrad.

Repeat suggestion. 1941 August forward, Russian tank division increase mp's to 30. so they can attack, get creamed, and then retreat instead of doing zippo.

You are right. I am playing 1.11.03 currently.

I am still impressed by your high Engineer value. Did you build many Sapper battalions? Did you put them with individual armies or with fronts and STAVKA?

I built maybe 40 battalions. Also waited to build regiments. It's was like waiting for Godot.

I also did not delete too many as the beginning ones on the map have good experience.

They are spread around.

attack 2

I may have then removed some industry from Rostov. cant recall

What gets to me is you had two great attacks, each with over 100,000 men and forced two Armored/Motorized divisions to retreat. The Germans lost a total of three tanks.

As I recall Axis were losing around 150 AFV's a turn, so maybe around historical. Can't check now but I think a lot of this was directly or indirectly from the VVS. Yes, minimal losses in combat doesn't make sense.

North Moscow disaster

tanks from Leningrad unit lock an Army worth of troops.

I guess i should have retreated north Moscow more the prior turn. Who saw that coming. ugly and unhelpful to the cause.

He tanks just glide across the map

more and more lost. I could cry.

If i did not retreat he would have just captured even more troops the next turn.

Well thankfully Leningrad area has calmed down.

He did just enough, and will now leave such a weak force guarding Leningrad to be a joke.

Now this attack was well fought but can i get a break please! This would have been a helpful win.

Model gives attack order and will depart immediately to parts unknown.

Your attack had a really tough loss at 1.95 to 1. I noticed that 33rd Army and Moskalenko (Inf=5) led the attack. In the last screen shot I see Vatutin (Inf=7) was commanding 18th Army. Of course there was no way to know the attack odds would be so close to 2.00 but your attack would have won had 18th Army had been the Commanding HQ and Vatutin had been the general.

Assuming 18th Army was also in the first battle it may have been worthwhile to force Vatutin to lead. If he had controlled the most CV's 18th Army probably would have been selected. In super important battles it's even worthwhile to spend a few AP's to effectively choose the leader. You could have changed some unit HHQ's to 18th Army before the battle and had better odds on the outcome.

Of course hindsight is 20/20 but in desperate times every trick needs to be played.

Also Coastal Army was from a different Front causing a -30% penalty. Every little bit hurts.

Counter attack lineup to remove Germans which are south of the Don river.

The units in Rostov have to attack over the major river.

You will not see the result. It was bad and morale lowering.
