Nearing the end game for the PIs.

Not sure of the Allied supply situation so it will be interesting to see.

Threats and opportunities abound on the East Coast of Oz as Lowpe comes out to fight.

He has me pinned on the coast but I am not sure he has the combat power to complete the job. Worst case I will have to stage a mini- Dunkirk and then reset before trying again.

Too early in 42 to be running away as Japan. I welcome the fighting in open terrain.

Scoreboard- 8th April

Keen to get to 3:1 over the next few months and should be able to achieve this with PIs and Singapore.

Reasonably happy with the blows delivered on the Allies thus far, especially on shipping and ground forces.

Losses are heavy for the Empire but acceptable in the greater scheme of things.

It is an exciting game.

Like most things in this game (and in life!) important not to panic no bad how a situation looks.

The IJA holds its nerve at Rockhampton and with the assistance of the IJN naval bombardments holds off the swarm of allied armour.

Flanking units now press home the advantage of the IJA in open terrain as the Allies start to revert from the hunter to now the prey.

Lowpe will have to fight his way out now and I just want to bleed him a little.

It is on for young an old around Rockhampton.

Air, naval and ground forces are all being sucked in from both sides as it is turning into a critical battle.

Not sure which side will emerge triumphant but most factors favour the IJA so unless I do something particularly stupid, I should be able to send the joint Aussie/US Battle group fleeing.

Happy to be fighting the Allies in open terrain and inflicting equipment losses on the Aussies (guns, tanks etc)

*In other good news a torp went into Lady Lex near Pearl. She won't sink but it confirms my suspicions that the US CVs are still training and working up their air groups in the Central Pacific. Lowpe will probably make a move towards Marcus Island or Saipan in a few months.

Need a lot more of these and I wish they were the 47mm version as opposed to the 37mm version.

Allied armour is doing its best to make life hard for the average IJA infantry man.

No doubt an accurate portrayal of the fighting underway at Rocky at the moment. Satchel charges, grenades, swords and bayonets!

Despite his admirable fighting spirit, I don't like his overall chances in that specific clash. He should be wearing his helmet!

He has managed to get himself below the line of fire of the MG.
Now he seems to be looking for the best spot to plant his sticky bomb!

Quick weekend update.

The carnage continues and if anything it has once again picked up a notch.

First deliberate attack about to be launched on Manilla.

I suspect the Allies are going to face considerable hardship again in China and from a different direction which hopefully Lowpe hasn't spotted yet (IJA is concentrating around Nanyang for the final push).

Wenchow has finally fallen yielding about 20K of Chinese casualties.

The theatre that offers the most upside over the next couple of months.

The theatre in balance- Australia.

Could go either way here at the moment. If I am forced to I can undertake a hasty evac but my preference is to stay and fight.

I love fighting Allied troops in the open even with all their armour so let's see what happens. I reckon Lowpe retreats out of Rockhampton.....

Ceylon has finally been secured which then triggered a series of naval clashes with the remnants of the Royal Navy.

Surprisingly the IJN got the worst of it with a CA (the second one thus far in the war) and 3 DDs starting a new career as artificial reefs.

Hard to gauge RN losses but I suspect another 3 DDs and maybe a CL. Just missed nailing two of his old BBs with long lances so it was worth the gamble.

If he hangs around I am more than happy to continue to trade torps, shells and if required ship, to continue to attrit the RN.

Given the brutality of the conflict thus far, I have adjusted my R&D plans somewhat.

With it being a PDU Off game, I have made the conscious decision to expedite the key airframes of 43 and 44 to the detriment of 45.

No jets or any of that nonsense. By the start of 44 I want to be smashing him with the A6M8, the best Oscar, the Tojo C and critically the Frank R. I am going for quantity over quality.

Lowpe will be bombing the Home Islands in early 44 if not sooner so I have to be prepared.

A snap shot of the Zero line racing ahead.

You do know that if you go to the industry screen on top to expand factories that you can get your research factories to exactly 30? The other factories you can expand as well, just by giving them one, ten, or doubling them?

Another big turn.

To start off with, the IJN unhappy at its performance the previous day sent out the famous Razer and a few DDs to extract some revenge on the RN near Ceylon.

The night started well.

Meanwhile on the East Coast of Australia Lowpe threw a few ships at our surface taskforces to interfere with the bombardment runs on his lads at Rockhampton.

And then some US DDs had a crack as well at Rocky.

This time it cost them.

The rest of the turn consisted of more indecisive clashes until one of the I Boats put 4 x torps into HMS Ramilles (ouch!)

First attack at Manilla achieved a 1:1 which was very promising.

Will huddle up and consolidate on all of the key positions and let the Allies continue to impale themselves on the superior IJN and IJA forces. Sooner or later they will have to break contact again and re-group.

*Losses below for the last two days but not complete as I ran out of page space.

4 x DDs and 1 x CA for the IJN

8 x DDs (?), 1 x CL and 1 x BB for the Allies

Its all over for Manila.

The defenders demonstrated as much heart as the Italian 10th Army over in the Middle East or if you follow AFL (which I am guessing most people wouldn't on this forum) a Carlton supporter.

A collapse like being bowled out for 36 at the Adelaide Oval, or 67 at Headingley?

With your R&D efforts, what is your solution to dealing with those 'nasty' P-47s? They killed you in our game.

Yes Mike, those P47s certainly caused me grief

Learnt a few more tricks in the last couple of years especially regarding layered CAP. This combined with sheer numbers will deal with the P47s,

What I continue to struggle with is a massive (and I mean massive) push into the inner cordon of the Home Islands. Once the Allies are established in 44 near the Home Islands I can't shift them and then the bombers start to arrive

I haven't worked out a solution to this one yet and doubt I ever will.
