The class carried what was probably the finest 12in gun of World War I, and while we can remember the Lovecraftian superstructures added by the Soviets, we should also remember that these ships began with extremely simple and elegant lines.
The armor scheme sucked, though.
Prinz Eugen and the other Tegetthoffs also carried an excellent 12in gun, but the mounts were awful. With their gappy armor scheme, their extreme topweight, their underwater vulnerability, their lack of speed, and (in Istvan's case) the shoddy workmanship, these rate as perhaps the worst WWI dreadnoughts. But weren't they pretty?

Status: offline 		As far as I can tell, Dante Alighieri inspired the Tegetthoffs in the sense that the KuK saw an Italian dreadnought as a threat to be countered. From a design standpoint, there's little relationship beyond the triple turrets. Alighieri herself was the product of Masdea more than Cuniberti, though Cuniberti may have had some input.
