Sunk airgroups come back 2 or 3 months later I think. There's also transit time.
Good catch.

ah well this is still 3 months during which he cannot mass P38s for escort duties.. just imagine the raids you manage to stop with double the amount of P38s.... So it gives you more time against his bombers... always good..

I would be a little carefull Sneer about cutting off Australia from the West Coast to much as it leads to nasty behavious by the Allied player.

In one of my PBEM's it has happened to me when I lost US CV's early and my opponents raided to map edges numerous times despite my best efforts to protect my convoys.

I finally got sick of it my reaction was Sod it I cannot be bothered losing convoys with no way of protecting from the full KB I am going to wait mass a huge force at Pearl wait for mid/late 44 and invade way behind the lines with overwhelming force its boring but it is effective

If you close down his LOC to much you may find no Solomons or NG or CENTPAC offensive but instead a huge 4 or 5 Corps 20+ Divisional assault covered by 50+ Carriers on somewhere like Formosa/Okinawa/Iwo/Home Islands in late 44 guarded by an unstoppable deathstar.

If you leave him no other option........

1st . i have never been closer than 20 hexes from south edge of map - it is my enemy who uses border moving
2nd. it is difficult to go so far without replenishment TF close and such TF is vulnerable and slow and remember that i need to go fast to make use of bad weather and it is fuel consuming - it is not possible to close LOC with KB in long term
3rd. it was 1/3 of my carrier force so if it was protected it would be difficult  - currently allies have similar carrier force - but it is again hidden - enemy convoys are always unprotected and uncovered - sth not possible IRL - it was allies CV duty to cover major shipment
4th.  i doubt he can directly go as far as inner isles chain without giving any sign -- it is still limited by logistics
BTW it is a place of my reserve force so it is not unguarded and even now it is 7+ fortified
if enemy want to land far behind he is welcomed - guadalcanal type battle so late is always good

Seeing as this game will most likely drag on into '46, I wonder if Sneer has taken into account the Rooshan Bear? A detailed look at the boarder shows that there is only the minimum of troops stationed there. When I close my eyes I have pictures of T-34s swarming across the Manchukou boarder with the sky black with Rooshan aircraft.

Just because you can't see a rooshan navy does not mmean that there is not one. Lend-Lease is a wonderful thing !

Actually I had 20+ P-38s there sometime ago trying to catch you unescorted bombers. The two that were left on the ground were damaged because of the poor state of the runways...........snapped their landing gear.

So if 1/3 China Army goes to Kwantung, 1/3 goes to India, 1/3 stays to garrison the place and 1/3 is bought out for use in the Pac right ?    ;)

tough luck
truth is that my new PC type works really good
2 subs scored and I think 1 heavily damaged by 1 hunter killer group and allied subs are no more present on my internal LOC
i have 3 at this moment and next 3 will go within 2 months - meanwhile Raverdave gets dezens of good ships

but it works even stronger for allied player

i have little problem with naval production at the moment but expect to have everything under control within next 3-4 months when I get my new carrier division ready
good news
Hiyo is almost finished in shipyard
Akagi well within 30's so ap 3 next months and it will be in service again
Kongo - funny thing - when i spotted enemy lost conwoy close to gilberts 2 weeks ago Kongo escort TF was 60 miles from these merchants but with 6knots and 80 sys there was no fun to risk her
Musashi repairs are going smoothly - ship should be back in service this year

4/11/43
looks like "convoy intercepted" is my sign for readers
small naval engagement north of wyndham - I attempted to intercept convoy with light forces
neither side gained surprise
yubari + tama + nagara + 4 dd intercepted 5 allied DD
shirakumo(mag explosion) + nepal( 2 long lances) sunk
hamakaze heavily damaged ( will be lost I feel)- yubari ate torp but in good shape
once again enemy intercpeted smoothly but this time luck was not with me
my cruisers barely took part in this battle (Nagara and Yubari did not shoot) and in DDvsDD fight allied were better
convoy was not seen
so both tactical and strategic victory to allied

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 04/10/43

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

little use of old Jap CLs
low firepower
low ROF
weak torps  and of old type
only agano is closer to night rider type
too weak for normal combat
without AAA weapons
only DD leaders and fast transport platform

i would be happy to see few new pre conversion kumano type CLs
