Dec 21, 1944 This is it! The first time I've ever faced an invasion of the Home Islands. Dan moves fast, and doesn't mess around. Right in. He most likely had a few looks at the ports of Honshu and knew my reaction would take some time if I were to make one. This is intended, as I don't want to lose 1,000 planes and the remainder of the IJN simply because I don't know what his set up is, where he's going or how to inflict some damage without getting completely minced. I did put out some MTBs, mines, and midgets. They were all fairly ineffective, but the CD guns did their main job of inflicted disablements and disruption on enemy troop landings. That may buy me some time and I may need every day I can get in the next week or two before a decisive ground attack. The Allies started with some light mining and then ruined my MTBs in one shot, with the AGC TF no less. Would have been sweet to hit that, but no go, alas. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Dec 21, 1944 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night Time Surface Combat, near Wakkanai at 122,48, Range 10,000 Yards Japanese Ships MTB G-875, Shell hits 2, and is sunk MTB G-888, Shell hits 3, on fire MTB G-1003 MTB G-1005, Shell hits 3, and is sunk MTB G-1006 MTB G-1011 MTB G-1013, Shell hits 1 MTB G-1016, Shell hits 3, and is sunk MTB G-230, Shell hits 1, and is sunk MTB G-231, Shell hits 3, and is sunk MTB G-240, Shell hits 3, and is sunk Allied Ships DD Newcomb DE Crouter DE Deede AM Zeal AGC Rocky Mount Allied Ships Reported to be Approaching!
