Dec 26, 1941 Bases captured today: Lingayen, Ketapang, and Iba (RES 20(0)) Bases LOST today: Ichang. The "gamble" of shock attacking around Clark Field paid off, as 2 of the 3 attacks forced the surrender of the defenders (4 Tank Rgt moved into the Clark Field hex, eliminating the ability of Allied units to retreat into that hex) - quote:

The sole Chinese corps on the east side of the river across from Ichang is now surrounded and will be destroyed. If the Chinese attack across the river they may be successful, but I'm not sure if they know that. We shall see. Meanwhile, 4 Tank Rgt at Clark Field, having accomplished its mission, will conduct a hasty skedaddle back to Cabanatuan. Unfortunately, the unit's fatigue is too high to do it in one day, so an Allied attack at Clark may cause some pain.
