It looks to me like the "enlargement" showing Mike Dukakis has the head twisted somewhat to the left of the tank commander's in the "original" (go back a page).

I was in high school when he was elected governor of Mass. A Jesuit Priest at school told the joke about a Greek mother trying to toilet train her son, who wasn't going, so she admonished him "dukakis, dukakis!"

The fate of 2nd Division hangs in the balance. I want maximal effort again. It is shame the 23rd is in China but that can't be helped. The boys of the 24th will have to carry the water. At 08:30 on October 28, 30 P-40's meet 47 Tonys over the Mandalay/Myitkyina rail line. It is an even fight, but enough Tonys remain to threaten the streams of RAF bombers following behind. Hundreds of sorties are flown on both sides, Allied bombers from Imphal and Ledo and Myitkyina stream forward to bomb the 3 Japanese divisions and armored columns. 3 full Jap divisions, 2 regts of heavy artillery and four armoured regts assault the 2nd Inf on the rail line. This time, the absence of 7th Armoured is felt acutely. Even so, enemy losses are heavy. After the heavy air losses of the 28th, Chennault has forgotten to take his Ritalin again and orders a "maximum effort" on the Mandalay airfield, the likely base for the Tonys surging into Northern Burma. There is no CAP over Mandalay on the 28th, a situation which is unlikely to be repeated on the 29th. The hard-pressed boys of the 24th FG will simply have to sweep the area first. 20 P-40's ecounter over 60 Tonys [X(] They perform well. downing 21 to the loss of 13 P-40's but the remaining Tonys beat up the B-25's and 17's coming in from Dacca at 10,000 ft. One does wonder how many Tonys he has left. Despite the American bomber losses, the airfield is hit pretty hard (8 Tonys are destroyed on the ground) and is evacuated the next morning.
