Marshall Ellis -> Announcement from the development team! (10/1/2006 2:45:23 AM)

Hello all:

Just a quick update!

We're in the final stages of testing and have a few graphical touch-ups to do then we'll be ready. I'm telling you this because I feel that our release is very close! I cannot tell you in terms of days but our testing is actually ramping down a bit. We're finishing our PBEM testing as we speak.

I'm excited that our journey is closing...

More news to follow SOON!

Thank you

ravinhood -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/1/2006 12:37:30 PM)

Thanks Marshall. I'm still anxiously awaiting this release as well. Seems all the games I want are in production or have been in production so long I've given up on them. Hope everything turns out great.

Alan_Bernardo -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/2/2006 4:09:38 PM)

Since release of EiA appears imminent, what are the chances that the manual could be made available for everyone to see?  I'd like to be as fully prepared as possible, befor the game is released.

Thanks,

Alan

Joisey -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/2/2006 8:52:11 PM)

How about posting some more screen shots!

Ursa MAior -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/4/2006 12:34:28 AM)

Second to that!

Carry on one more step to go!

Joisey -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/5/2006 1:07:29 AM)

"Soon". It's such a relative term, eh? [8|]

hlj -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/5/2006 10:45:14 PM)

Great news, I am thrilled that we are now speaking in terms of days ^_^
I am going to make myself a gift list for x-mas now putting cEIA on top of the list.

von Curow -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/6/2006 5:44:54 PM)

Great news. It's been a long wait. I've had fun with Crown of Glory in the meanwhile, but I prefer EiA and am looking forward to it, as I have been lo these many years.

Alan_Bernardo -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/7/2006 4:28:59 AM)

Not to be an impatient goon, but in a few days, the "any day now" pronouncement of the release of EiA will turn into a week.  Then the announcement might read "any week now": days cannot be used.  :)

Seriously though, I can wait as long as the next person, but it's not the brightest idea to claim "any day" unless it's an absolute.

But how about another update-- a comment about the possiblity of an early manual release and some newer screenshots while we wait?  We've waited this long, a little more of a wait, though discouraging, is not going to do us any harm.

Thanks,

Alanb

coregames -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/7/2006 9:36:55 AM)

Wow, it's actually going to be released before we finish our current EiA game! That means we can play MEiA concurrently with over-the-board WiF.

jamo262 -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/8/2006 2:18:05 PM)

Whilst ruminating on the length of time this game has taken in its development, I realised
that this length of time exceeds any one of Napoleon's campaigns bar the peninsular war.

Thus causing me to ponder the saying "It is harder to build than destroy".

Surely there is a lesson in there for all of us

Somewhere

I think.

Damn Ive gone senile with waiting. :-(

ktotwf -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/9/2006 1:49:53 AM)

The more I think about it, the more excited I am.

von_Bülow -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/9/2006 2:35:03 PM)

I've been following this forums now for years popping in just once in a while, mainly interested in the process of EiA.
I never felt the need to register but now I guess the time has come...
I am very excited and looking forward to see some more good news.

...enough said...

Greetings from Germany

I had an Idea Marshall would say this LOL[;)]

Marshall Ellis -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/11/2006 1:38:53 AM)

Hey guys:

Ok, you asked for it and here is a screen shot with a small tour guide:

Game description:
This is a solo game I have played in which I am France. I have secured Berlin after some serious field combats in hopes of getting an unconditional surrender from Prussia.

The top buttons are buttons active at all times (Main menu, end phase, view political statuses, etc).
The buttons in the lower left part of the screen are the phase buttons (DOW, attempt alliances, etc).
The text window above the phase buttons is a text log which can be enlarged to see more messages at once.
Just to the right of the text window is the current selected unit (Napoleon) and its stats.
To the of the current unit window is the current area window which has a lot of info about the current area, city control, nation, current nation that controls this area and the province in which it belongs. This window also has the current units in this area broken down by stack i.e. Units in the city, besieging unit and rural units.
Just to the right of the area information window is the strategic map with color coding of control.
You can see the optional panels in the main menu that allow me to view more detailed info about my nation. This panel will show current conquered nations, freestates, wars, peace restrictions, access, money and VPs.
The very top right section is a quick view of the current nation with its phase and manpower/money info.

Anyway, just wanted to give a quick view of the main play screen. Some of you have seen this before BUT maybe not the latest...
Hope this helps...

Thank you

no, thank you for this, it looks like it will be fun to play. But ... I will never understand why you made some changes to the map that are so terrible wrong... just compare the cities of Kiel and Lubeck, both quite the same quality on your map... historical, Lubeck was a extremly strong town at this time while Kiel was less than a village, its "habour" only used by local fishermen... but according to your map the same size as Bremen, another strong Hanse town... was it really too hard for you to check this out ?

But as I said: it looks like it will be fun to play [:)]

JimMerson -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/11/2006 3:24:58 AM)

Wow....

The map is beautiful.  I guess I should start my favorite football play.. the left handed drop back draw play.  You know pull out the wallet etc.

Hope to see this one soon.

Jim

Oh yes. The moment of truth is coming.

McGuire -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/11/2006 12:25:04 PM)

Great stuff Marshall!

And very nice of you to keep us informed! And by showing us things like this keeping us HUNGRY!

But from my point of view:
I'd rather forgo any screenshots or updates, if you can get your work finished a day earlier!
But you'll know best!

Still: THANK YOU!

Joisey -> RE: Announcement from the development team! (10/11/2006 5:02:26 PM)

Thanks, Marshall!  [&o]  I know I was asking for new screen shots for quite awhile.

I don't know why you've kept this beautiful map and interface hidden!  [&:]  It's gorgeous.  Don't be afraid to show off your hard work.

There's alot of artistic and graphical choices that you had to make all rolled up in that one screen shot.  Maybe you were a bit nervous about what the feed back would be?  I know its too late for you to change anything but not to worry:  I think your graphics are both pleasing AND elegant.  I especially appreciate the way your graphics try to capture the ambience of the period (the map looks like painted cloth).  Good Job! [8D]

I only have one small, teeny, tiny, quibble, and fortunately it IS something you can change any time you like:

The foraging values look like they've been shaved down in this area of the map from the orginal.  A "2" for Posen?  Warsaw and its environs are hardly the same as the Russian Steppes!

I would be interested to hear the rationale for this design choice.  Is it to make it harder on the French for an extended campaign in the Meta-game?

Hi Joisey,

The Posen forage value is one of many graphical errors that are currently being addressed (that’s what we’re told) but it was coded correctly. In the insert below, you can see the two supply options available to the Prussian IV corps; forage and depot supply.

1) The forage value is 3 (not 2) and the modifiers to the die roll are -2 (+2 for winter, -1 for own territory and -3 for unused movement points)
2) The cost to use depot supply from Berlin is $4 (2 areas away during winter)

Richard

Edit: Oh and btw, the white highlighted areas show the movement range that the corps has and the winter land movement option (double cost) was not in use for this example.
