ORIGINAL: SMK-at-work Most Russian a/c fal into the category too - even the diminutuve Yak-3 - reputedly hte best dogfighter of the war: Nice, is that photo or illustration (3D render)?? Hi Oleg - it's a photo - all the aircraft photos I put in those earlier posts were from either the Alpine Fighter Collection, or the New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum, both based at Wanaka, New Zealand. The Yak-3 is one of the new builds done in the 90's with Allison engines, hte Hurricane was rebuilt by Air New Zealand at their Christchurch base (I used to be an aircraft mechanic for them) - it ws found in Russia as a wreck. I'm not sure where the Chaika and Rata came from but there's a fiar bit of info on them at the websites.
