Hello Bombur!

Actually, you already used Horses as Mobilizers - when you made Cavalry ...
So individual mounts are covered - now Wagons need to be adressed too.

Actually, the fact that you put Cavalry in led me to peek into your Mod and look for those Wagons in the first place ... [:D]

Cheers!

Ok...right, by I donīt intend cavalry to work simply as mobilizer. These are mounted rifle squads with high mobility and better recon values. Will will need the horses (we can call the wagons...I can do this change) to carry equipment (like mortars or guns). Do you have any other suggestion for the mod?

Bombur -> RE: Beta version released (8/21/2008 1:32:42 AM)

-Created more units: Armored car III and Large Cargoship
-Fixed the movement rate of Cargoships II and III (they were set as fast warships...)

Bombur -> RE: Beta version released (8/23/2008 12:26:01 AM)

v0.11 is uploaded. Will fix a few annoying troubles with the tech tree. I made an invitation for potential playtesters....

Bombur -> RE: Beta version released (9/3/2008 1:55:16 AM)

Broke the magical "100 units" barrier. Now, I have almost all of pre WWII units ready. Anew version will be uploaded this weekend. A Human vs. Human test is running.

Vic -> RE: Beta version released (9/3/2008 10:43:19 AM)

I am defenitly going to play this one when it is finished!

realy looking forward to it.

Bombur -> RE: Beta version released (9/4/2008 12:36:19 AM)

Iīm planning a second human playtest as soon I finish my game with Grymme (Spanish Civil War). I hope I will have about 150 units. Wouldnīt you like to join this one?

Vic -> RE: Beta version released (9/4/2008 9:19:54 AM)

Yes i would. I have to surrender in the Iron Age game i am playing soon anyway :)

Bombur -> RE: Beta version released (9/6/2008 11:42:24 PM)

-In the event you have time to take a look at the beta version ready to upload (I can send you the last version if you want), I will be glad to hear any suggestion.

Grymme -> RE: Beta version released (9/7/2008 7:55:24 PM)

Looking forward to your mod when it comes Bombur. I am thinking that i might use it when i create scenarios. Instead of creating new SFT:s each time i make a scenario i could load your mod. Set the research to the correct date and then carry on.

Bombur -> RE: Beta version released (9/7/2008 8:25:32 PM)

Thatīs one of the purposes of this mod, hopefully it will work as platform for other scenarios.

Grymme -> RE: Beta version released (9/7/2008 8:42:23 PM)

You are welcome to using some of my SFT: pictures from my WWII scenario if youd like. Might spare some time looking for all those pics.

Widell -> RE: Beta version released (9/8/2008 4:14:09 PM)

A proposal to Vic: Why not release this, and other, master files as part of the vanilla game? That way, you get a set of "official" master files which makes life easier for scenario designers.

Any masterfile being made "official" implies a high degree of quality, completeness, resolution of legal issues, legally-obtained pictures, etc. I know that my own masterfile could never be sold as part of a commercial product.

Widell -> RE: Beta version released (9/8/2008 8:53:39 PM)

It seems this has never been a huge issue for TOAW. Maybe different for AT? Also, I was not implying an increased retail price for added master files, specially since exactly the same information is included in any scenario distributed with the product, or, for example, from the scenario bank. It was a humble proposal to make lifer easier on the hard working scenario makers.

This is the way TOAW has worked for a long time. As scenarios, and in later releases databases, reach the level at which they are considered "complete", they have been added to the release package of the product.

Also, did you put your masterfile in the scenario bank? If yes, it is part, if not sold as a part of, a commercial product [;)]

-Thank you, I will try to expand my mod to reach the 80īs. What takes most time is the time I spent to study the evolution of naval warfare, in order to create the new units. A WWIII expansion would be a big challenge, since USSR and USA had very different units. While the USA, for instance, had nothing similar to a Backfire armed with long range cruise missiles, or pure interceptors like the MIG-25/31, the USSR lacked specialized combat helicopters like the Apache, Aircraft carriers and naval aircraft. But I think I can deal with this.

If eventually my mod became well accepted, I would be happier if Vic added some features of the new advanced masterfile to it.

Bombur -> version 0.12 (9/14/2008 1:54:18 AM)

Version 0.12 released for download. It already has 107 units.

rickier65 -> RE: version 0.12 (9/22/2008 6:31:27 AM)

Per PM exchange with Bombur, I've moved this mod to the sandbox. I also chagned the name from from .11 to .12, to match the zip file.

Rick

Bombur -> RE: version 0.12 (10/2/2008 4:06:37 AM)

A news version will be posted soon. Already achieved 125 units. Most early 40īs units are done (except naval ones, I will work on the Bismarck soon....)

Bombur -> Ask for help (10/4/2008 1:47:16 AM)

128 units fully defined.....I would like to see if someone could help me with new symbols for units:
-Zeppelin
-Coastal Artillery
-Rocket Artillery
-Jet Fighter
-Jet Bomber
-Torpedo Bomber
-Flying boats

Jeffrey H. -> RE: Ask for help (10/5/2008 5:49:02 PM)

What and how many era's or generations of these units need symbols ?

Only one symbol for each of these units. Could use WWII like symbols for tropedo bombers, flying boaats and rocket artillery. Jet planes are generic (something with swepr wings, maybe). Coastal artillery would be simply an emplacement with a gun.

Jeffrey H. -> RE: Ask for help (10/6/2008 2:18:34 AM)

Only 7 ? Ok. I'll give them a shot.

What sort of file type/size requirements is there ?

Bombur -> RE: Ask for help (10/7/2008 3:08:18 AM)

They should have the same size of standard AT symbols (38x38). They are usually made in *.png format

Bombur -> RE: Ask for help (10/7/2008 3:14:10 AM)

-The mod is being playtested human vs human. It seems up to now that the mod favors strongly the defender in the first stages (up to WWI). Taking cities results in massive losses for the attacker, even if the city is surrounded. Pre assault bombardment seems more effective to destroy the city than to inflict causalties in the defenders. Iīm considering an increase in the bonus for concentric attacks. Naval combat seems ok up to now. Let us know how the introduction of tanks and aircraft will change gameplay.

Bombur -> RE: Ask for help (10/8/2008 3:12:02 AM)

The 131th unit created is the Bomber IX (Mosquito, Pe-2 and A-26).
Good news, artillery is working well in preparing attacks against cities. No medieva warfare, fortunately....

Bombur -> RE: Ask for help (10/11/2008 2:03:18 AM)

Version 0.15 uploaded. Now with lots of WWII units. Enjoy your T-34īs, KV-Iīs and even Tigers....
