ORIGINAL: Terminus So, what are my American brethren up to for the forthcoming holiday weekend? My spouse and I have lots of plans. Tomorrow morning it starts at the National Archive with a viewing of and reading of the Declaration of Independance. A walk around the National mall , stopping into a few Smithsonians (American History is still closed). The Mall itself with have the Folklore festival. This year the subjects are Butaun, Texas and NASA (We have to ask Bruce how NASA is considered folklore and folk life). A few guests at my place for Non-British beer (the one day a year I don't use British products-especially tea) and fireworks viewing of both Washington DC's (My balcony) and Alexandria VA (My side window). The rest of the weekend will be spent visiting memorials and monuments, a quick visit to MT. Vernon for lunch (we are members of the association so we go there quite often) , dinner guests on the 5th for a traditional Maine 4th of July dinner (Salmon pie, corn, new potatoes and new peas). And if all goes well, and the park police don't catch me , I intend to throw a small packet of tea into the Potomac , (I know , I'm about four hundred miles short , but Boston comes later this year!). So T , please raise a glass of something and give good wishes to the "Great experiment". We are still here. And to my British friends , UP Yours! (Only for one day, and only in fun. On the 5th of July I go back to drinking British ale , and single-malt and tea. ) Happy 4th of July to all! [sm=00000436.gif][sm=00000436.gif][sm=00000436.gif]
