Here's what the lines look like near Leningrad now.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T79 (1/29/2009 6:01:42 AM)

Here's a before and after shot of the lines near Leningrad.....well, actually it's turn 78 ( before ) and turn 79 ( after ) and shows how I gained three or four hexes and pushed the Soviets north a little more.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T79 (1/29/2009 4:49:45 PM)

I just checked the expected reinforcements and found out that a lot of my aircraft are going to be withdrawn soon. Drat! That's going to put a crimp in my plans for the conquest of Russia.

Zap -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T79 (1/30/2009 12:06:37 AM)

I would send those units out every possible chance for the maximum benifit. Better they be destroyed in the effort of for victory rather than leave without a fight.

Here's an Axis secret weapon still under development:

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T80 (1/31/2009 2:07:47 AM)

I'm recommending this regiment for the Iron Cross for holding the line just south of Leningrad. Many a regiment would have folded before this happened to them....but they held the line. I may have to send them back to Berlin to recruit for the Fuhrer ( how do you spell Fuhrer ? ).

Here's an abbreviated version of the Axis losses so far:

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T81 (1/31/2009 7:40:57 AM)

Most of the hot action is going on near Leningrad. Curt and I are fighting over three and four hexes at a time and several have swapped hands a couple of times. This is what the lines look like at the end of turn 81:

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T81 (1/31/2009 7:45:48 AM)

Just to show you that nothing else in the game is changing very much here's the entire front lines as of the end of turn 81:

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T82 (1/31/2009 9:11:31 PM)

Here's the front lines near Leningrad at the start of turn 82. Notice that Curt has left the front lines wide open. I think he did that thinking that the mud season was going to start on turn 82 and it didn't yet. So I sent an email to Curt asking him if he wanted a do-over.

[image]local://upfiles/16287/A06658E9A08A4D5898BB04819FE65D20.gif[/image]

EDIT: It turns out that all Curt's forts were withdrawn in turn 82 and he didn't know about it. And if you don't replace those forts with another unit the hex remains empty so.....

EDIT: Here's what Curt has to say about the withdrawl of the forts:
"I never bother checking expected reinforcements. I figured a withdrawal this large would have been mentioned in the briefing. Not just the fort units, but every unit with the same icon colors. We're talking two entire armies plus major portions of several others. All told, it amounted to over 100 divisions. Some were on garrison duty but many were holding crucial sectors of the line, like at Leningrad.

This changes everything. You stand a good chance of winning if you can exploit my monumental blunder. Anyway, I'm done whining. Here's my moves."

I agree with Curt about mentioning this in the briefing. All you guys making mods to FITE: if you're going to make a withdrawl this large maybe you could make mention of it in the briefing so guys aren't caught like Curt and I were....yes it happened to me as well in my first game with Karri.

Where all those Militia & fort units went from lines?
Disband? I dont prefer this rule in fite scenario, it ruins it.

All Curt's forts were withdrawn from the game. I suppose he could have disbanded them instead but then they would have had to be on a supplied city hex to do that according to the rules. I agree that the withdrawl of all those forts without sufficient warning in the briefing can catch the unwary player by surprise and CAN ruin the game for that player. Maybe Curt wants to switch sides now?

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T83 (2/1/2009 7:16:20 PM)

Here's the Leningrad front lines at the end of turn 83:

Da_Huge_D -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T83 (2/2/2009 7:03:04 AM)

No, i mean that disbanding in large scale ruins game. But withrawals are historical. So.

But, seems that Leningrad falls, but thats not win yet, You get now nice replacement addons! [;)]

Shazman -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T83 (2/2/2009 4:00:00 PM)

Here is something that should interest you guys.

Event: 275, German Transportation collapses Due To Heavy Rain Sup -5
Trigger turn: 31 (October 5th, 1941).
Effect: Supply 2- (Axis).
Value: 10.

Event: 283, German Supply Efficiency Increases Due To Frozen Ground
Trigger turn: 43 (November 16th, 1941).
Effect: Supply 2+ (Axis).
Value: 5.

I have yet to find where the Axis recovers the other 5 supply. So at the moment it appears the Axis player plays the entire scenario short five supply points from turn 31 on to the end.

If I'm wrong I would appreciate a correction.

Holy smoke! You've found a bug in the scenario. Good catch. The narrative says 5 supply but the event value is 10. So obviously the event value should be 5 instead.

Raindem -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T83 (2/4/2009 2:06:22 AM)

The withdrawal thing was my own fault for not checking the reinforcement schedule.  As a designer myself, I hate having to spell out every little detail for players who don't take the time to learn the game.  So there it is.

Larry could have waltzed into Leningrad, but for the grace of God the mud season finally came.  Now I'm rushing reinforcements to the area as fast as the rail system can carry them.  So when the weather breaks and the '42 campaign season starts Larry will be able to jump off from Leningrad's doorstep.  This will be an interesting summer.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T87 (2/4/2009 2:14:35 AM)

What's the record for the number of simultaneous partisans? Here's 5 at once in the game Curt and I are playing. It's turn 87 now, about the third turn of the spring '42 mud season.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T90 (2/4/2009 11:35:14 PM)

Here's a picture of seven partisans simultaneously. Is that a record for '42?

Im really enjoying your long long report. Keep it coming.
Looks like this will be going to 43? Very tough game you have guys.[;)] heavy tanks, panzerwerfers, t-34/85's...

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T91 (2/5/2009 4:56:24 PM)

Look how SLY Curt is: he's got an infantry division in a flooded marsh hex where I can't attack him on the front lines.

Look at event 283,290,297 each gives a +5 supply add to the axis player, while 275 and 286 takes 10/5 supply in total there is an effect of Zero. With turn 89 the supply level has reached the old level.

So everything is fine, just the written text is wrong. But there is another mature Bug FW 190 "late" occours 100 turns earlier and even 10 turns eralier than the fw 190 "early"

iirc it ist 159/169. actually fw 190 late should be 259.

best greetings

pionier

What's hte point of that tho? You can't move through that hex either so that division is serving no function that I can see?

The function he is serving is that I can't attack that unit, so I can't make it move and I'll have to work around it somehow unless and until Curt moves it.

When I moved him in there the ground was frozen, and thus fair game for attack.

SMK-at-work -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T91 (2/6/2009 2:36:06 AM)

yes I figured you must have moved there when it was frozen - there's no other way to get here after all.

I guess it gives an immovable "ZOC" on adjacent hexes that can't be driven away

larryfulkerson -> RE: Curt vs Larry FITE T92 (2/6/2009 6:08:21 AM)

30% of the turn ( T92 ) is left and this is how the Leningrad front lines look now:
