Still waiting for Sweden turn

IronWarrior -> RE: "house rule" (3/27/2009 11:31:03 PM)

Agreed lenin, this game has been a lot of fun as pbem. I would absolutely love to see detailed battles be imported/exported to LAN and back to pbem again! Still great fun though, and I'll definately be up for some more in the future.

This turn has me nervous, I may have made a pretty bad blunder... depends how things go. Anxiously awaiting the results. [:)]

Mus -> RE: "house rule" (3/27/2009 11:39:18 PM)

Somebody email barbarossa and ask him what the holdup is?

barbarossa2 -> RE: "house rule" (3/28/2009 4:28:33 AM)

Swedish turn in.  I was waiting on one last response to my diplomatic dispatches until the very last possibe moment.

The message I got said the turn was due by Friday evening.  I didn't know if it was Friday evening western Europe time or Friday evening eastern US time.  I assumed US time.  And the turn was in by 10pm New York time.

I have no problem with hitting an exact deadline if I know when that deadline is...exactly. :)

First great victory of the war goes to France... with 11000 austrian casaulties laiyng on the fields of upper Austria... But your gona get a surprise France!!!!!

Matto -> RE: "house rule" (3/29/2009 3:40:04 PM)

Wow, it looks war really begins !!!

IronWarrior -> RE: "house rule" (3/29/2009 6:55:58 PM)

Hehe I assume by "surprise" you're not talking about anything pleasant like rosepetals being thrown at Napoleon's feet as he enters Vienna, eh Franck? [:D]

Seems like Russia is eager to get into the battle... at least they sure seem to be moving quickly in my direction!

Great fun!

Oh yeah I have a question one of you may know the answer to... when I set "support orders" for a unit, I hover my mouse over the province/sea zone I would like to support and press the 's' key. However, the unit I give the support orders to, moves into the region. I was under the impression from the manual that there should be a "dotted line" shown, but I'm getting a solid deep redish-black.

Just wondering if I'm just getting hung up on the visuals, but I'm worried about it actually working as intended. Aside from this concern my next turn is ready to go.

Kingmaker -> RE: "house rule" (3/29/2009 7:13:54 PM)

Swedish turn 7 in.

Mus -> RE: "house rule" (3/29/2009 9:15:11 PM)

Things are starting to get interesting in this game.  I have a pretty complete view of the action in Italy and the Med.

timurlain -> RE: "house rule" (3/30/2009 9:22:52 AM)

Prussia's turn 7 in (not last, not last [8D]).

Matto -> RE: "house rule" (3/30/2009 9:43:11 AM)

Yes ! Waiting for Austria and Russia actually ...

Kingmaker -> RE: "house rule" (3/30/2009 11:30:07 AM)

HiHi

Russias T7 orders sent in.

All the Best
Peter

Franck -> RE: "house rule" (3/30/2009 6:37:34 PM)

I'm currently at university, I have to change my turn once I get home tonigh. (I learned of something I had to do by one of my allies). I got to change my turn before I send it :)

sorry

Kingmaker -> RE: "house rule" (3/31/2009 10:40:06 AM)

HiHi

Err very nice & Ta-everso etc, but why has Denmark suddenly become a Russian Protectorate, I am not complaining honest [:D] but whats the Game mechanics here, No invasion of Danish soil, no request from Denmark to become a Russian protectorate, they just upped and decided themselves.

The only thing I can think of is Russia has a +521 attitude and I had an army over 40,000 4 land provinces away.

Anyone any better ideas?

All the Best
Peter

Matto -> RE: "house rule" (3/31/2009 11:29:14 AM)

Anybody declared a war to Denmark ?

Matto -> RE: "house rule" (3/31/2009 11:30:05 AM)

Or tried political putsch?

IronWarrior -> RE: "house rule" (3/31/2009 11:43:15 AM)

Interesting turn for sure... gz on Denmark. [;)]

I did try a coup for a couple turns, but had switched to malign once Russia started getting ahead, wasn't enough to keep up with the subsidies though.

I can definately say that "support" orders are not working as you can tell from the devestating naval battles. [:D] I'll post it as a bug in support in case there's a chance it can get fixed for a future patch.

Kingmaker -> RE: "house rule" (3/31/2009 12:13:04 PM)

HiHi

Good thinking Matto, but it looks as though it could in that case only be Sweden, Englands ruled out as he's allied to me, I'm not fussed who's done what though, just how the game plays for future referance for us all.

That rumour you planted IW, was it the one about Margeret Thatcher doing the Can-Can for President Regan? [:)] (Exit Peter stage left shuddering at the thought)

All the Best
Peter

barbarossa2 -> RE: "house rule" (3/31/2009 12:28:30 PM)

Hey guys.  This is Sweden.  The only thing I can think of is the fact that I might have had an army of a decent size near by.  It was positioned there to prevent invasions of Denmark, but of course, I couldn't tell that to the AI, which may have reacted defensively.  I certainly didn't declare war on it.

I have to admit, I partly enjoy games which manage to surprise me. Sometimes it is good to have just random stuff like this happen. Real life isn't predictable either. Yet, I would be curious to know how this process of protectorization without invasion works.

Actually, now that I think about it and have had a chance to review the events of the turn, it may have been France's invasion of Mecklenburg (I believe they have invaded as there was a battle there between the forces of France and Mecklenburg) which caused this event. As I believe the rules state that this can happen if other countries in the region are being invaded.

But it was an interesting development. :)

lenin -> RE: "house rule" (3/31/2009 8:22:31 PM)

I might be talking out my bottom here, but probably any of the large armies near to Denmark could have sent them running. I'm glad it's all a bit unpredictable.

Only just got in after 14 hours on my feet, so only had a quick glance at the turn. Certainly seems to be a few cats amongst the pigeons this turn.

The RN seems to have chased Villeneuve's fleet all the way to the Bay of Biscay, defeating it in two battles en route.

French morale is looking a bit dodgy, but there's probably not too much more the British can do actively to force them to surrender (at least whilst their fleets are hiding in Spanish ports.

I'll submit my turn tomorrow evening time. Too tired tonight as been on my feet 14 hours.

IronWarrior -> RE: "house rule" (3/31/2009 11:01:32 PM)

Actually I had ordered Villeneuve's fleet to the Bay of Biscay where I had also given support orders to the other fleet in the Spanish port. They ended up attacking piecemeal, but I was surprised that Villeneue's fleet was handled so easily as they appeared to have ournumbered the RN in Biscay.

Those losses really hit French NM hard, but I thought I had an opportunity there. Support orders are obviously bugged though.

Mus -> RE: "house rule" (4/1/2009 12:22:02 AM)

France had a very large Force on Denmarks border.  That would send it running to be somebodys protectorate but I had thought that that required you to have a certain amount of force near the country in question?  What forces did Russia have close to Denmark?  I would have thought it would go Swedish if anything.

PS Kingmaker, not sure if you saw my email, my settings are as they should be. Im not sure if the trades were rejected because our country AIs dont "like" each other or what the hell is going on.

Franck -> RE: "house rule" (4/1/2009 12:43:12 AM)

Hey IW, would you like to keep in memory the strengh of the army that just defeated me? I'm sure I was alot bigger and with my other armies around I'm pretty sure I was close to a 2:1 advantage calling in reenforcement... You still managed to giv eme a good kicking around :( that's sad...

I'll wait for everyone else's army... Still almost managed to cut all your supply lanes... ONly one depot left and the Grand would have taken more death to foraging than it can afford!
