Damn.

barbarossa2 -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/26/2009 9:40:53 AM)

I did resend the files. :) I think they got there at 3AM eastern time.

I was falling asleep tired when I did my turn and nothing I did probably made sense. So, I guess France is open for invasion this month everyone! :P

Mus -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/26/2009 10:15:38 AM)

Unfortunately I wont be able to play for several days as Michael Jackson is dead...  I will be flying to Los Angeles to stand on the sidewalk out in front of the hospital wearing one glove, moonwalking and selling tshirts for a couple days minimum.

[:D]

Franck -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/26/2009 12:35:05 PM)

[:(]Bad news...[:(]

Got the file in time but while I was trying to play the turn (just before I left) I noticed that it seems the fact that Monte changed the file's name makes them unusable. I tried rechanging the name, doesn't help.

As I said earlier this will have to wait until Sunday morning (easter time) probably.

Sorry fellows

montesaurus -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/26/2009 2:18:06 PM)

Sorry guys, didn't know about being unable to alter file names.
Anyway, turn has been resent, unaltered!

Franck -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/28/2009 6:11:05 PM)

No probs Monte, I didn't know ether!

Playing now!
I won't be at my GF this week after all (that's where I went for the weekend, but forgot to bring my CPU! So I couldn't work over there. I had to come back :P)  Might go next week!

Not at the moment DM, but check out 'Danish anyone', they may still need a Turkey player.

All the Best
Peter

montesaurus -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/29/2009 8:38:36 PM)

Dead meat you can also put your name in the reserve list... See the thread with that name.

Do that DM. We have a small, but loyal and growing pbem community. Apart fom teething problems, everyone in the 2 games I've been involved in have stayed the course, my longest game has just reached 50 turns. Not bad for a 7/8 player game. No dropouts apart from the odd technical difficulty either. What a great crowd!

Franck -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/29/2009 10:47:59 PM)

Needs prussia

Mus -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/30/2009 4:08:31 AM)

Have a few really slow players in this one screwing the game up, IMO.

Need people to start showing up to play or go to our reserve list I think.

Franck -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/30/2009 4:15:08 AM)

Well the first time it was my fault. I was able to play but then had to go for 48 hours.

This will happen sometimes. I know it tough. So I can ask some people to play my turns. I can also give up my position if you'd rather I do that. In the case of our Prussia player he has never been the quickest BUT the last turn was sent on June 28, 2009 2:30:28 PM from the No Frills account. Since this was a 48 hours turn around I believe we should leave him 48 hours. Still, I believe if you really want me to get the turn back to you in the next 48 hours I believe I need the turn in the 24-36 hours following the time I sent it.

I'm sending an e-mail

Mus -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/30/2009 4:27:19 AM)

Im not blaming you Franck. And I also realize this game has had some weird technical/email related issues getting started.

However, I do wish the 48 hour max turn was very rarely approached by any player, instead of being consistently reached or exceeded every turn.

24 hour turns should be very doable, it takes about 5 minutes to make your moves and send your emails.

timurlain -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/30/2009 9:56:10 AM)

Prussian turn sent. My apologies for not being the quickest. I was planning to do some diplomacy before my turn, but I should have just sent it. I often instead of just doing the turn go and think what should I do and whom to contant only to find I ran out of time anyways. I see that we are aiming for 24h turns. I will try to do that then.

Mus -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/30/2009 10:30:23 AM)

NP.

Im not trying to be a jerk about it either. If Im in the minority I will gladly go to the reserve list and you guys can get somebody in here that wants to play Austria in a nice super slow game. I would prefer we try to pick it up a little when everyone is at their computers to make up for the times when people cant help but be away for awhile.

Regarding diplomacy, whats worked well for me in the other two games that have been moving along at a pretty good clip (several occasions with more than 1 turn in a 24 hour period) is I try to front load as much of my negotiations as possible. I send messages about proposals for the next turn or two or three when I am sending in the files for the current turn, so the person I am talking to has a day or two to do whatever needs to be done to respond.

Franck -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/30/2009 1:59:05 PM)

Just woke up.

I got to get ready for a meeting with someone for my essay at 10 eastern time. I should come back home after and I'll play the turn.

I used to be the one holding the game up in our other game. The reason wwas that I would always hold up on doing my turn until all diplomacy is resolved. Sure it would be more fun to have all diplomacy done quickly, but I feel that anyways it feel more authentic if diplomacy take a couple of in game turns to resolve :)

Anyways you'll get news from me around noon eastern time in all probability.

My GF arrives on thurday evening... If I could get the turn back before that ;) (you know women... They just hate it when you keep freshing you hotmail to know if you can play your turn...)

Franck -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/30/2009 5:31:48 PM)

Lol Peter you keep sending me the ALL files :)

I need the Nofrills_turn002_2BriTurnDone file :)

Not the Nofrills_turn002_ALL file...

I know that you know... But it's funny that you keep sending that one ;)

Usually peter replies quickly so I should have your turn soon.

Kingmaker -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/30/2009 5:37:31 PM)

HiHi

Sheeee, thats x2 now ... "me brains going I tell you!"

Franck -> RE: 1792 No frills PBEM (6/30/2009 6:38:44 PM)
