Group patrol altitude is 19000 Raid is overhead my Lightning squadrons have become totally obsolete, wonder why... the Lightnings arenīt that worse compared to Corsairs but they are hardly able to deal with Zekes, let alone Georges... to make it worse for us, the Lightning squadrons are full of our best pilots... we trade the Lightnings 2:1 over the target but have so many damaged that it comes down to a 1:1 most times... and losing Lightnings 1:1 to Zeroes and Georges is something you just canīt afford as the Allied because the Japanese will laugh about anything below 3:1... what more can you do than to fill them up with aces and set them all to sweep? The oh so great working "routine" for coordination of sweeps makes any numerical advantage ad absurdum... itīs nothing but a flawed piece of programming... and in this case, we are attacking leaking Cap because it would be suicide to attack the base with the fighters itselve with radar now... now youīve got radar and still the sh*tty coordination routine that is semi working for bomber strikes but totally rubbish in any way as soon as fighters are involved, no matter if itīs about escorts or sweeps... donīt even want to think about how silly it is when carrier based fighters are trying to escort some LBA strikes, this is even more absurd than the rest... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Vinh , at 65,59 Weather in hex: Heavy rain Raid spotted at 39 NM, estimated altitude 8,000 feet. Group patrol altitude is 37000 Raid is overhead all my attacks resulted in a bad outcome for us, now a Zeke sweep against leaking Cap from Hanoi ends up on the receiving end... even though only two Zekes show up as destroyed, all of them were either shot down or sent home damaged for only two op losses on our side... without this engagement, the enemy would have achieved another victory in the air, even though he faced a total numerical superiority of Allied fighters... guess weīve ordered some 200 fighters to sweep the enemy today, facing something like 40-50 enemies (all inferior fighters compared to P-38 and P-47)... our squadrons are flown by the best you can get but the way the game works it doesnīt help at all to have a 4 or 5:1 numerical superiority because you canīt bring it to the fight as it is now... add in the dive or no dive and you either end up with a total victory or a defeat... we didnīt have the dive today for our P-38 up to this point but the leaking Cap from Hanoi in this example had the dive, bad news for the sweeping Zekes... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on Djailolo , at 78,101 Weather in hex: Partial cloud Raid spotted at 45 NM, estimated altitude 45,010 feet. Group patrol altitude is 19000 Raid is overhead and thatīs it for the sweeps... the P-38 from Hanoi took absurd losses today, mostly probably because they flew nine or ten missions in one day (clearly a bug), you can imagine how the fat looked like, the P-38 from Ternate sweeping Mindanao achieved a victory in the end with this sweep getting the never ending dive... more than two weeks P-38 replacements were lost today, we killed a weekly replacement of Zekes, definately not something we can afford...
