No tounges hanging out, but once they go to red fatigue and you zoom in you can actually hear that the guys are out of breath!

Excellent! [:D]

Sometimes it's difficult to see where your squads can find cover. You can use the LOS tool to check, but you can also toggle the underlying AI terrain on and off as well with a simple key press.

It helps when you are trying to plan an infantry advance.

Thanks

I will try the demo....if it grabs me I will buy...

With all the discussion about making maps, I'll go over the process.

You open Map Maker, select a scale, import a height map, import a terrain map, modify the terrain map in an editor program like Photo Shop or MS Paint, add the structures you want and then save it.

Once the map has been saved it will ask if you want to view it in the Scene Editor. Saying yes takes the map to another editor. One where you can view the map as it will appear in the game and where you can make fine tuning adjustments to anything you have placed on the map.

This is a very powerful tool. As just one small example, it allows you to place smoke coming out of a chimney. In MM I just put the smoke on the map. In the Scene Editor I place it at the top of the building coming out of the chimney.

Here is what the map for HSG Urrah looks like in the Scene Editor. It is very evident the texture layers as well as where each tree and building are and their orientation on the map.

Good Hunting.

Here is a shot of another attempt at a forest map. This one is not all forest but has patches of heavy woods. This shows the difference in textures better than some of my other screen shots.

There is a map included inside the game. This shows several things, such as victory locations, victory location ownership, the kind of terrain in the area, where your units are, where known enemy units are.

Even though the map is small it's color coded to help with terrain recognition. Orange is brush, pink is bog, dark green is heavy woods, lighter green is lighter woods, olive drab is plowed fields, etc....... German forces are in light blue, Soviet forces are in red.

Good Hunting.

would be one my favourites as well. Quite a moody pic! [8D] Btw, do the rear turret machine guns work in the game? [&:]

No.

Mobius -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/11/2010 3:15:27 PM)

This probably raises more questions.

I don't even realize there could/should be questions! How bad is that.

Gerry

P.S. Help please.

heinrich55 -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/11/2010 7:52:53 PM)

Mobius,
Pretty cool rendering. I remember ASL had some of these monsters in their inventory. Essentially they had covered arcs everywhere, but a well-placed 37mm AT round would generally be the death of them. Nice modeling.

Thanks,
There is another model, a T-28E, which has more armor and a little better main gun. As the minor turrets are only armed with DP machineguns they only contribute to a total MG firepower.

More of This Old Tank.

Those have been a long time coming to a tactical computer game. Looks like the wait was worth it.

gijas17 -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/14/2010 4:51:05 AM)

I believe these T-28's were used during the Winter War against Finland 1939-40. But improved since the T-26 could easily burn by throwing a Mokotov Candle near the rear end of that tank.

RockinHarry -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/14/2010 11:59:16 AM)

The product page tells, there is a medium and hight texture detail mode, dependent upon GFX memory. Can you make some comparing shots? [:)] Iīve currently a 128 MB GFX, but intend to buy a 512 MB one next year.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/14/2010 12:00:14 PM)

Any tank would burn if you threw a Molotov Cocktail near the rear. If you got fire up on the engine deck there was a good chance any tank would catch fire.

junk2drive -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/14/2010 12:59:52 PM)

RH a screenshot becomes a bmp which is then turned in to a crappy jpeg to post in the forum. You can't really tell from forum shots what it looks like at your house.

I had a ATI Radeon 7000 64mb AGP card up until a few months ago and ran the game on medium settings. On low, close up, things were pixelated. FPS was in the 2-5 range. On high, things didn't look better than medium to me. I now have an integrated ATI 4200 set at 256 and run on high. It looks about the same to me. Obviously I don't know what to look for. This is all on a CRT. Also AA and AF at 0. I would rather have speed than looks.

The main concern is CPU and RAM with large forces on detailed maps.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/14/2010 1:09:44 PM)

Here is what the menu for calling in artillery looks like.

First you have to have a leader that is in radio contact. If the star by his icon in the HUD is green he can call for Off Map Artillery.

Es ist ein MAUS!!! Or perhaps meeces (as Jinx the cat would say), as there appear to be more than one.

Heinrich55

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/19/2010 3:17:20 AM)

Well then, that's the TO&E the Germans had in mind. King Tigers and Maus in the same Panzer Divisions.

Good Luck stopping that combination. That should prove for some interesting what if scenarios before long.

Good Hunting.

Ah, so the best tank in the war was a P-47? Or B-25?
