In that respect we are just like other games, sometimes the bird gets the worm, sometimes it gets you [X(]

Time to get caught back up here a bit. As Rick said we've been busy. Thst's still no reason not to due our daily routine.

Here is a screen shot of the campaign selections page. The campaigns are listed in order of the number of battles in them. As you can see from this shot there are two campaigns that have a single battle in them.

That allows for some different options than just making them a single scenario. Depends on what the goal is whether you make it a campaign or a scenario.

Good Hunting.

Like there are two camapaigns with a single battle in them there are also two campaigns with 8 battles in them.

These are predone campaigns that have been playtested. As you can see from the SS the top button is for anyone wanting to do a random campaign. If you want a random campaign you simply click the button here and you are on your way.

Good Hunting.

MR,
Is the random campaign generated by the computer or do you set the parameters, such as year, geographic location, troop type, etc?

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/26/2010 4:15:53 AM)

You need to ask J2D but I think it can be set up any way you like.

Good Hunting.

junk2drive -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/26/2010 4:25:18 AM)

The RBG and RBC haven't changed much since PCK. There are threads in the old forum about the details with screenshots.

Basically you pick a map and that will give you the season based on what that map was dated for. Then you can change the year. Then you can change just about everything else based on Month and Year.

EDIT here, looks more like post 26

For Random Campaigns, you have a series of potential choices. You can choose from several 'formations' Infantry or Panzer Divisions, or a Russian tank corp. these selections are set up for different time periods, you can select how many battles you want play within that time frame. The computer will then create the Random campaign.

You can also design your own Random Campaigns, though this isn't a trivial undertaking, it's certainly doable.

Thanks,
Rick

heinrich55 -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/27/2010 12:31:35 AM)

Thanks guys. I just looked at the link from J2D and that post really showed the system well. It looks really sharp.

I am looking forward to playing around with it.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/27/2010 4:23:35 AM)

Since we went a couple of days without updating this thread I'll do a series of SS on how to get out of a HT and into a building.

Here we have the HT with the squad inside sitting next to the building.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/27/2010 4:24:40 AM)

We select the squad and tell them to unmount, to exit the HT.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/27/2010 4:25:49 AM)

After we order them out of the HT they are sitting very close to the building.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/27/2010 4:26:50 AM)

Now we tell them we want them to enter the building.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/27/2010 4:28:38 AM)

The pink line shows us where the squad may enter without a movement order.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/27/2010 4:29:37 AM)

With the building selected we tell them to enter and they have gotten out of the HT and entered the building.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/28/2010 3:01:09 AM)

When moving a vehicle has a chance to bog. If it does it applies the same restrictions as taking a track hit. The vehicle display shows it the same as well.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/28/2010 3:04:13 AM)

Unlike track hits which are permanent in the game you can have a vehicle unbog. When it does the track hit indicator goes away.

Good Hunting.

rickier65 -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/28/2010 4:52:29 AM)

You might also notice that the Track hit icon is shaded halfway as if buried in some reddish mud.

Thanks
rick

heinrich55 -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/29/2010 1:42:31 AM)

I didn't notice that about the icon, Rick. Thanks for pointing that out. Nice little detail.

The model looks great. Really sharp job.

MR, thanks for the shots for unloading and dashing into the nearby house. Approximately how far can you be from the house and still enter without a special order to do so? I would guess that would save time and perhaps save casualties if you could just make it as a continuation of the unloading from the halftrack.

As to the bogging, are there any orders to try and unbog that might improve your chances, such as reversing? Or, are you just waiting while the game determines a percentage of chance for unbogging?

Heinrich55

Mobius -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/29/2010 3:43:48 AM)

Juryrigged yes, but effective at clearing houses.

Mobius -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/30/2010 2:12:14 AM)

We probably have enough vehicles to reproduce almost any Ostfront scene in PCO. Even with these two rare vehicles.

WilliePete -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/30/2010 2:16:56 AM)

Ive been following PCOstfront for a while now and think things are coming along very well. I think the models of the vehicles are top notch, and the houses/buildings and trees are quite good. The only thing I don't think that looks nice is the ground. Winter/snow of course is ok, but the splotchy green/brown ground looks pixelated and out of focus. I find it distracting and hope something can be done to it before release...

The maps and the engine is designed to show the scenes best from above. I usually play the game as the 300' General not down at the ground level. There you have the best view of the many units you control.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/30/2010 4:31:58 PM)

There is an almost unlimited capability with ground texturing. If you make your own scenarios you can make that ground look like whatever you like.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/30/2010 4:36:14 PM)

Here is a shot of the road with a "hard" look. I can make that road look like anything from this jagged rock look down to a smooth gray ground with no features at all.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/30/2010 4:39:14 PM)

From this view you can see that the road looks much better in the distance. Which is what Mobius was saying. It just all depends on the designers tastes in terrain and their skill with the editor to make that happen.

Good Hunting.

Mad Russian -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/30/2010 4:40:49 PM)

Here is an example of the exact same texture that has had different settings applied to it. The texture outside the map area is the same texture as that on the map for the forested area.

Good Hunting.

Mobius -> RE: Screenshot of the day... (10/30/2010 6:32:53 PM)

From above the fray you get a good view of your units. The ground mesh goes with the scene.
