Okay another AAR for 2nd PBEM game. I threw caution to the wind this time on first turn, let us hope I don't pay a hefty price for it. North, I have captured both ports on the west coast of Estonia, 2 Motorized Div are blocking Riga. 3 Armor Div have driven all the way to the 1st Major river and pocketed everything in the north. Central, 4th Army made small advance but holding west side of huge pocket, Green army is holding north and east side of pocket (always forget that army number. Armor has driven deep and is outside Minsk. That has created multiple weak pockets. South, I am going to try the "Mynok Gambit" in an actual PBEM. I have driven in and blocked almost every access point. We will see if this works. If it does, I will create a huge pocket on turn 2. I did use a Panzer Corp from AGC. Here is the Mynok Gambit. Flaviusx did pretty dern good against this. I was still able to reach the border but he extracted a lot of stuff just with movement. Be interesting to see how your opponent responds.

Oh, I will be careful to an extent. I will not under estimate him that is for sure. Mynok, I saw his screen shot, but hoping for a mistake to give me some time. We shall see.

You've brought 42nd Panzer, so you are doing the reinforced Mynok Gambit. [;)] I think you'll be fine. If your opponent puts his mountain divs and a bunch of infantry in that rough down by the border, avoid it. Make your pocket west of there. That's what I did. He pulled his mtns from the border back in there and I wasn't going to touch them with panzers. It really hurts not being able to use the Rumanian mountain units. They won't move in there even in 1.02. Really annoying. I thought that was fixed.

But they move using 1.03 beta and that is what we are using. True, I just could not resist using the 42nd.

Turn 2. Well, throwing caution to the wind did not bite me in the butt. Thank the heavens. Turn 2, my front almost looks like it does against the AI. Will describe more in Screens as usual.

Turn 2 North I have cleared most of the pockets south of Riga. Only 1 Infantry div shows left. that will die next turn. Looks like he will be digging into every swamp hex he can find. Turn 2 South The pocket held. But he managed to get a lot of units out by the southern route. Pocket will die over next 2 turns. 11th Army now active and beginning the advance. That's a good result. You need to punch through near Proskurov and make him pay for railing all that stuff up front.

That is the plan. Since they will be isolated, the 6th Army div and the SS div will move to the front. I hope to smash all my armor thru that gap and spread north and south. Just waiting.

Turn 3 and the mud has hit me again. From the North all the way to the South. Not sure what that weather zone is called (Russia, maybe). So few advances there. Okay, forgot to grab some screen shots. So will go off the previous shot. That is where the main action is. Lvov pocket eliminated. Oleg got a lot out. But I also pocketed a nice bundle in the mountains below Proskurov. About 11 Div have been caught. I am crossing around his northern line below the swamps. Proskurov has been pocketed, but chance he will go back into supply. In the north, have hit defense line at Pskov. Awaiting infantry support. Riga fell. Central is on the Dnepr and am waiting for infantry to catch up. They will be coming on line next turn so expect to force a crossing with 2 turns. For once, I am not hitting a lot of resistance in the swamps. That is a mistake IMO. I would force an opponent to slog it out.

Very good. Exactly the right move against a southern escape against your first move. You won't catch all of them but a good number will not escape you sealing it next turn. Oh...I see...that shot doesn't reflect current positions and you have pocketed them now, right?

Turn 5 after the destruction and working on the next pocket. We will see if I can bag them, doubt it, Russian rail is awesome. Would be really nice to bag that huge group. I have already noticed that Oleg is going to try and defend with a linear defense and hardly any back up. Well that's looking good, assuming you've done your recon. [:'(] 11th army is way far north. You need to get the 17th army in there and move those purple guys back south. You are really thin on the ground south of Vinnitsa. 6th arm has nothing in front of them. Push them boys hard and you will definitely threaten pocketing that massive group north of Proskurov. You really need to do that. Well done with the "Mynok Gambit", reinforced though it was. Nice to have some vindication for the feasibility of this one.

There is a line in front of 6th Army along that river. I took that shot before I remembered to run my end turn recon. I manually control recon. I do a front line, and then a end turn with any left overs. Not to fear 11th Army will be shifting south as 17th reaches the line in force. Most of 11th is south. 1 Cav Brigade acting as a garrison was sent north. Plus the 2 div you can see there. 1 came from around the pocket and the air landing went straight across the mountains. Most of 11th Army is along the river and mountains right off screen. Dang morale is low right now so my Romanians don't move far. That will get better.

Okay, turn 6 is complete. I leaped a bunch of HQ's and air bases forward now that my supply line is really close. But I am also seeing some serious weakness' in his defense. That could change quick, but right now, they are huge. North Zone 1 This shot is after end turn recon. Notice that the north coast is wide open. Hardly anything there. I did recon on every hex 6 out from my infantry. His main line is along Pskov and that river. He also left the lake hex un-guarded so I slipped a couple div across. North Zone 2 And here can see the next hole in his line. This is after recon 3 hexes behind his line. There is nothing there. I have a Panzer Corp right there and will shoot north if he does not do a major shift. I know most people hate seeing a Panzer Corp from AGC head north, but this is too tempting. Southern Zone 1 Here we have stage 2 of my pocket. He moved a lot back, but I still managed to bag a bunch. Pretty much the same here. He is using a strictly linear defense wit hardly any back up to slow me down if I get thru his lines. And I will get thru his lines. I see a lot of people making this mistake. You have to to place some units 2 hexes behind your line to force the German player to use precious movement going thru the ZOC. Turn 7 Huge update. We have holes blown all up and down the line. Can he close them all in time? That is the question. Either way, he will have to think his line or risk encirclement. First we have an error on his part. Seriously thinking of offering to pull it back. He did not guard the Finnish border good enough and I am over the border above Leningrad.
