- Changed the Unit colors. Army and Front sub-units now share the color of the higher HQ. Players can still change these colors as desired, but the map is more military and less rainbow.

I don't know if I understand this correctly.
If that means that the players must to assign a different color to many of his counters before every major campaign , then I don'tt think that many will like it.
I can't see on your image anymore how the Russian counters belongs together.

- Scattered small farms to break up the monotony further. Should I make these standard or ALT graphics in the Mod?
- River names shifted to be more visible and the word 'River' added to each.

Please be careful. Do not get too motivated.

I like your black and blueish button bar. Looks very nice especially with the already large amount of data, it is less distracting and clean.

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/25/2012 2:10:37 PM)

The image is inside the Mod (Version 3)

I am still finalising it, but I will post when it is ready for download - maybe 1-3 days.

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/25/2012 2:14:35 PM)

Thanks - it's a quick thing to mod

1. It only affects the modded scenario we are creating and it's just an experiment. If you use the Map Mod your counter colors are not affected - you only see the change if you also open our PanzerKrieg modded scenario with historical OOBs.
2. Also, when you select an HQ the highlights still tell you where its sub-units are, just like before
3. Players don't have to change any colors. But they can change them if they want to.

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/25/2012 3:09:55 PM)

I have decided to release Version 3.0 of the Map Mod now. THIS MOD DOES NOT CHANGE ANY OF YOUR UNIT COLORS.

You can find the download link and install instructions here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3147536&mpage=1&key=

As you will see on that post, you need to install my Single Hex Cities modded scenarios to see single hex cities on the map. If you use the stock scenarios, the cities will still appear as multi-hex.

TJD -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/25/2012 5:19:49 PM)

I've installed v. 3 of the mod and get the following when I start the game. The same problem appears even after I uninstall the mod (I'm using the Generic Mod Enabler of course.) This "Select Mod" option is null and I just click past it and the game itself is not affected in any way that I can see.

It does concern me that this box appears even though I've now uninstalled the Mod. Can you help with that?

Great work you've done! Thanks a million for it.

Best,

Tim

FroBodine -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/25/2012 6:12:16 PM)

Does the map mod work on all scenarios in Case Blue, or just the largest main campaign?

I'm hoping it works with the smaller scenarios and the four part campaign too.

Hi. I've never seen that at my end. I've installed and uninstalled the mod at least 100 times during testing without a hitch.

Hi. The DC modding thing is a little complex.

Basically, while you have the map open for editing, some things you edit might be generic map mods that will show up in any scenario (e.g. Changing the graphic for towns) while others, like adding a new town, or removing the extra city border transition hexes only affect the specific scenario you have open.

So, the mod, once installed will change many aspects of every vanilla scenario you have, but you will need to also download our modded scenarios to experience every change.

So far, I have produced a hasty set of modded scenarios for download with smaller cities. The OOBs and Events are all vanilla and the map locations are unchanged.

We are modding Case Blue Full map and OOB and that's where you will see new towns, names in black AND new unit strengths. This is WIP.

If you are interested, in can try importing that revised map into Case Blue vanilla and uploading it. This will give you the modded map to play on but with the vanilla OOB.

Please remember we are casual modders and the game has only been out a week. No quality guarantees and you need to put your testing hats on and keep everything positive :)

Hi. I've never seen that at my end. I've installed and uninstalled the mod at least 100 times during testing without a hitch.

I had to do a total reinstall to get rid of this anomaly. I tried reinstalling over the existing game files at first but that didn't get rid of it, so I had to uninstall properly and delete the entire file structure. I've used the GME a lot with a number of games so whatever happened I don't think was due to an amateur's mistake.

Best,

Tim

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/25/2012 8:32:36 PM)

Did you have any other mods installed, including earlier versions of PzKrg, and did you deactivate/delete them? Is the Mod now working?

I have now put the Case Blue scenario file on the download thread. You need the Mod installed AND the scenario file in your scenario directory to get the full PanzerKrieg effect.

No, no other mods were installed previously. Haven't tried your v. 3 again but will do so shortly and let you know. Thanks again for all your super work.

Best,

Tim

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/25/2012 9:56:28 PM)

Thanks Tim.

Hope it works for you. As I said, it installs fine here.

One option is, of course, to make a second install of DCCB and paste the relevant mod folders into it, in sequence. Brutish but effective.

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/26/2012 7:53:28 AM)

POLL

I've had a couple of people tell me that they get errors when installing via JSGME or on loading the scenario in the game. It works fine on my machine.

However, when I go the DCZip route, I get an error message and a frozen screen.

So, a quick Poll. Please tel me whether you are successfully running the mod via the JSGME route or not.

Keunert -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/26/2012 8:51:46 AM)

everything works fine via jsgme

JSGME = [:)]

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/26/2012 4:29:25 PM)

Can you guys post a few screenies so that I can validate that what you have is what I intended? Also, are you using the modded scenarios with smaller cities, in particualar the Case Blue one I posted yesterday?

SteveD64 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/26/2012 4:31:53 PM)

OK, thanks. Glad you are using it but I am keen to get feedback from users of version 3 with the modded scenario because that's really where the mod was designed to get to :)

In PzKrg version 3.2 we strip away the grass cover and change some background pics

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/27/2012 8:11:50 PM)

In the next release I have finally opted to go for an almost 100% board game look - removing the 3D mountains.

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (7/28/2012 7:24:40 AM)

An optional Red Roads Add-on for those who struggle to see the vanilla roads on the map will come packaged with release 3.2.

My personal preference is Vanilla.

Where are the download links for this mod? Is it finished yet? Does it contain new scenarios as well? I finally broke down and purchased Case Blue.[:D]

Hi - welcome :)

There's a sticky at the top of the thread with all the downloads. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3147536

Most people miss it so I am looking for a way to make it a sticky sticky ;)

It's a map mod at the moment, but we are working on new scenarios. There is a set of vanilla scenarios with the big cities modded to fill a single hex and the next release replaces the city image currently used by the mod.

Hope you enjoy using it.

Redmarkus5 -> RE: Board Game Map Mod (REL) (8/4/2012 8:08:24 AM)

PanzerKrieg 3.2 includes an OCS map-style option. Here's a sample, also highlighting some of the other mod changes coming in the next release.

The OCS color scheme is now my personal favorite.
