ORIGINAL: loki100 your losses and gains were equally impressive - like the way you keep on being drawn to the next objective --- ok that was Odessa, now the Dniepr --- in the north it looks like you'll be able to threaten Minsk from the north, so that should help unhinge that German defense on the Berezina? It's quite natural to follow landmarks like big cities and big rivers. This is not an exercise in optimization, it's war and the troops must know that they fight for some important goals :) The trouble is the armies going north of Minsk are one of the weakest, being members of the poor old Kalinin front, that got worst beating in late '41 and couldn't get back in shape for two years. Now all guards slots are taken and they have none. Meanwhile in the south I have very strong troops under one of the best leaders - Konev. Thus, both forces advance at the same speed, even though Konev fights with much stronger enemy force and in worse terrain.
