In front of the two sided attack and the fleet support, the defenders of Kobe abandon the fight.

In Sasebo, Mc Arthur is almost destroyed by the heroic defense of Terauchi, but he nevertheless gains the city.

Germany has now nothing to do and passes...
This is Germany at the start of the second allied impulse.

Russia is almost don too, except south where it is now trying to chase Mussolini from Albania.
Its unlikely they will succeed before the end of the turn: the road is difficult!

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (1/1/2014 11:23:04 PM)

For Japan, its identical: nothing to do. Two cities left (the German still have eight.)
Looks very bad. The best hope now is Osaka, in the mountains and "well" defended.
But its a very slim hope.

Once more unsure that I'll be able to terminate this AAR. It's so close, though!

But my latest saves seem to take forever to load...

markb50k -> RE: Global War Solitaire (1/2/2014 1:47:35 PM)

Congratulations, either way, on a fine AAR, and the progress you've made going so far in the war.

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (1/2/2014 1:59:32 PM)

Thanks!

But I would really like to end it up.
I want to know if, in the end, I will completely conquer Japan/Germany.

Looks likely, but not certain in either case.
Italy won't be completely conqured, because I neglected Ethiopia/Erythrea: why really bother ? Now, its too late...

And when it is finished, I'd like to add some personal comments on my game.

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (1/2/2014 3:57:46 PM)

[:@]

If I load a save before land movement, it works.
So I can continue the game, but I must likely terminate all in one session...

With land movement that can take more than one hour (count 20 seconds for each land unit move: about 5 seconds to think about it -and sometimes more-, then 15 seconds because that's the time the game requires now for most land units -unless they do not start or end adjacent to an enemy unit, and their ZOC doesn't overlap an enemy hex- ; well, that's more complicate dthan that anyway)

This means I must redo the whole previous land movement phase...

Oh well, better begin now!

Can you put a saved game and a bug report in the forum for this? It doesn't sound good at all...

yvesp -> RE: Global War Solitaire (1/2/2014 6:45:07 PM)

I sent it direct to Steve, don't worry.
This is not the first bug report I send him.

Yves

The USA launch an assault on Kyoto. There is only one unit there, so they don't require an excellent result. On enely destroyed is anything they wish for. There is whatever is needed to reorganize.

Things don't go exactly as planned...

Germany at the start of the second axis impulse in July 45.
This will be the situation at the start of the allied impulse that follos.

It still possesses Stettin, Leipzig and Stuttgart (cities with factories), and Aachen (city with no factory)

Japan at the start of the axis second impulse in July 45.
This will be the situation at the start of the allied impulse that follows.

They still keep Kyoto and Osaka.

The fleet cannot help now: it is stuck in the sea of Japan and has no more planes available to fly. However, the USA are weak now, and it seems unlikely that they can capture both cities.
