MJ40. Allied #6. Ground Strike. Question.

Do you wish to intercept the attempted CW ground strike?

The Gladiator is flying escort and the CW have a Spitfire in range that could respond to any Luftwaffe intercept attempt.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/2/2016 2:49:51 AM)

Yes, please intercept.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/2/2016 2:56:14 AM)

MJ40. Allied #6. CW Ground Strike. Air to Air Combat.

Though the air to air combat between the RAF and Luftwaffe is bloodless the battle goes the allies way as both RAF bombers are cleared through to their target.

Now for the ground strike rolls themselves. This could be big or it could be nothing.

MJ40. Allied #6. CW Ground Strike.

Well, it achieved something but not what I was hoping for.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/2/2016 3:39:15 AM)

MJ40. Allied #6. China.

Post movement, no air or land combat.

The Japanese are putting extreme pressure on both the Nationalist and ChiComm.

MJ40. Allied #6. Manchuria.

Saber rattling on the Soviet/Manchuria border. Non-aggression pact in place until the end of the Jul-Aug-40 turn and to be renegotiated at the start of the Sep-Oct-40 turn.

The Soviets, for now, aren't interested in Persia. They are, however, interested in the direction the Germans take after they take Paris. And, they're concerned about what's going on in China.

MJ40. Allied #6. CW, India.

I certainly have more to learn about this game. I thought the division would get "automatic" odds against the 0-strength partisan. But, apparently defending in the woods give the partisan +1 defense, which would make the attack +2. No nearly good enough to take the risk. No attack.

MJ40. Allied #6. Egypt. Eastern Libya.

It's definitely a low intensity conflict in this theater. The CW is definitely happy with that and hopes it continues at this level.

This ends allied impulse 6. On to Pat for our next weather roll and axis impulse 7.

Fleet Air Arm escorting Bomber Command ... I've always found this mechanism in WiF to be a bit optimistic. I wonder if the Kriegsmarine has moved up their E-Boats along the Dutch Coast behind the Wehrmacht's advance. A question for another game, I guess.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/2/2016 4:52:29 PM)

Impulse 7, the nice weather continues. As does the offensive.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/2/2016 4:57:52 PM)

Italy initiated a search in the N. Atlantic. Only the allies find. Your choice with surprise aplenty.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/2/2016 10:54:24 PM)

Alright, let's rumble. [:)]

Include both sections and use all surprise points to maximize results against the axis subs.

For RN damage, (1) apply results to the CA York until no more can be applied, (2) then to the London and (3) Edinburgh.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 2:06:50 AM)

Results, one sub destroyed, every other unit involved aborted (both sides).

I aborted your 3 CAs to Plymouth

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 2:22:07 AM)

In the W. Med, the search rolls were 5 for axis and 7 for allies. I barely found and engage solely the 0-box with a total of 6 surprise points. AA was ineffective and all surprise was used to move the results up 3. Net was sinking of CP's and aborting of both CA's.

I am assuming you will stay for round 2.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 2:22:44 AM)

Yes, please.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 2:40:15 AM)

Round 2, we both find with 4's (3 and 4-box), net zero surprise. Do you want both CV planes to fly as fighters versus my NAVs.

[image]local://upfiles/47448/B68A8BD4F9B247AA83B16AD2C0DECB29.jpg[/image]

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 2:53:56 AM)

New, both fly as fighters.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 4:43:28 AM)

Had to go and replace my cell phone which stopped working today. Just back now.
Air to Air was bloody in the end with no shipping damaged. Assuming you will stay for round 3 (only axis unit left in the zone is the fighter in the 1-box).

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 4:47:01 AM)

Round 3, you found. Only can engage my fighter in the 1-box. You can fight it out, but I suspect an avoid combat is coming.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 4:47:56 AM)

Yes, avoid combat please.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 4:49:12 AM)

aborted the 2 FR CA to Marseilles.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 5:02:37 AM)

Ran 4 ground strikes, forgot to image the die rolls. All were misses (just like last impulse, my planes only drop pamphlets).
I circled in red the locations I bombarded (one with the GE Art, the GE plane is still over the other).

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (8/3/2016 5:45:19 AM)

Four ground attacks. My luck is continuing to stay the course. The best roll, a 19, came on an attack with a modifier of +18, The other three rolls were below average (7,6,3) and the worst was in Belgium and stopped cold any future attacks this turn, plus losing an 8-4 MOT. You have a choice of what unit to lose in Belgium - last image below.
